Winter break 2009...so far

It started with Kim being unable to fly to New York because of the storm (well it was really pretty and I was so excited to see snow!) and they flew her all the way to Memphis, TN (again, I was actually a little bit excited because I've always wanted to go there, just to see where J was from)!! I mean, wth?! She wanted to go from Indiana to New York and they brought her to the south... She got stuck there for 11 hours before they flew her straight to San Francisco. At least she got there just fine and her friends picked her up.

A little bit late, but...

Manchester United star Ryan Giggs was crowned 2009 BBC Sports Personality of the Year in Sunday's award ceremony.

The Welsh winger, 36, is the most decorated player in English football with a record 11th Premier League winners' medal secured this year.

Formula 1 champion Jenson Button was second with world heptathlon champion Jessica Ennis securing third spot.

Giggs agrees new contract

Ryan Giggs has agreed a new contract which will tie him to United until at least June 2011.

The 36-year-old, a veteran of over 800 games for the Reds, has been in scintillating form this season and, according to Sir Alex Ferguson, fully merits the reward of his new deal.

“Ryan deserves a new contract and I am sure he will play for another two years," said the manager. "His form is fantastic at the moment and he is playing some of his best football.”

Giggs himself is very pleased, and is typically looking to the future.

“I am delighted that I have agreed one more year," said the winger.

"I am enjoying my football more than ever and I am looking forward to hopefully winning more trophies with United."

The new deal will extend Ryan's career beyond the 20th anniversary of his United debut.

20 years at the top of the game. Simply amazing.

United will meet Milan in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

The Reds will travel to San Siro on Tuesday 16 February to face a side likely to include former Old Trafford star David Beckham. The second leg will be played in Manchester on Wednesday 10 March.

I sure have been blogging A LOT lately

and I think that's because I have absolutely nothing to do these days. Yes, it's finals week but technically I only have 1 final, CS314 on Monday the 21st. So since last Friday, I've had no classes and almost no work to do. I've watched a lot of TV shows, but the ones that are currently on air are taking their winter break and won't return until January/February.

Mad Men

So there's this channel that usually only shows movies--classic movies--and suddenly it's showing a TV show. A good one at that, too. Mad Men was rejected by HBO and then Showtime and it finally landed on AMC. I didn't even know this channel exists.

It won all these awards last season and I was just so upset that it beat my then favorite House! Not saying that I don't love House anymore (I mean, how could I ever not love Dr. Gregory House?!) but with that, and then Dexter and now this, I just have so many obsessions right now! These three are like the current top drama series. They're all nominated for the 2010 Golden Globes and I believe I would be fine if any of the three wins it.

Celebrity of the Decade

Over on Popeater, Justin is one of the top six celebrities nominated for “celebrity of the decade” award.

Justin Timberlake
In the year 2000, if someone said to you that Justin Timberlake — who at the time was the blond-dyed, curly-haired, Britney-dating, falsettoed leader of boy band *NSYNC — would be perhaps the top male pop artist in both sales and credibility at the end of the decade, you would have either laughed or cried.

Golden Globe Nominations

You can see the complete list here.

Last year, I knew who I wanted to win, Hugh Laurie for Best Actor Drama and House for Best TV Series Drama. But neither won, with Best Series going to Mad Men. And in the course of the year I have been hooked on Dexter and Mad Men. All three shows are nominated for Best Television Series, Drama, and their lead actors, Hugh Laurie (House), Michael C Hall (Dexter) and Jon Hamm (Mad Men) are all nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Drama. I can't decide who to root for!

I mean, how could you not love House?! Right now I can't stop thinking about Mad Men and how cool Don Draper is and what gentlemen they were back in the 60s... I just watched Dexter's season 4 finale and it's just plain amazing.

I do believe that Dexter's Jennifer Carpenter, who plays Dex's sister Debra on the show, deserves a nod. She's been brilliant since the first season but has never been recognized! Hopefully, next year people realize how good she is...

I kinda want Hugh Laurie to win because this is his sixth season and he's been performing well every single year. For the show, I want Dexter to win because it's just awesome! Not saying that the others aren't, but they definitely deserve to win something! Mad Men has had an amazing year last year so it's time for the others to win... (and for some reason I feel like all my favorites will get snubbed and some random show will win).

2010 Golden Globes Nominations Announcements

Justin was one of the people who made the announcements so for the first time I was actually interested in this thing.

He's just hilarious, I love him!!

Study: CT Scans Overused, Increase Cancer Risk

Found this here.
CT scans are one of the most popular tests in medicine, but two new studies raise concerns the tests are being overused and could increase the risk of cancer, Dr. Dave Hnida reports.

Now everything increases the risk of cancer, even one of the tests to see if you are sick... Am I just stupid for not worrying too much about these stuff? I mean, basically they say anything we have in today's world increases the risk of cancer. It just adds to our worries, as if this world isn't crazy enough already. I just don't think too much about these stuff. I do spend less time calling people on my cellphone, and I try to not eat microwaveable food too often (which is VERY hard when you're in college) but it's not like I'm gonna stay away from those things. Just in moderation...

Dexter season finale

Dexter's season finale aired on Sunday night, but since I was still finishing up Mad Men, I delayed watching it for a couple hours. It was kinda strange, after spending 3 days watching men in the 60s to a clash of two serial killers.

The show's creator and cast have been teasing us about the finale with "it will blow your head off" and they certainly delivered!

Throughout the episode, Dexter was so distracted because Trinity finally found him and that he might get to Rita and the kids. He made sure that they are away and safe so that he can get this over with. At the end of the episode, they killed off...

No Strings Attached: Decade's Top Album

According to Billboard.com, *NSYNC's No Strings Attached is the decade's best selling album. Only The Beatles' 1 sold more, but that was a compilation so it wasn't considered.

The Top Pop Artists of the Decade - 2000s

Popular music is tough to define, besides the obvious qualifications: Does the song have mass appeal? Are people talking about it? Is the track glossy and polished? Does your mom tap her feet to it? Answer "yes" to at least three of these and you've got yourself a pop song. As the 00's winds down, we're in a nostalgic mood and looking back at the decade's best pop artists, from Britney to Beyonce. When it came to the Top 40 set, this here was a great time to love music. Though we know you'll have serious problems with it, here now are our picks for the Best Pop Artists of the '00s

I <3 Lansten

Lance made a surprise appearance on The Jay Leno show on Tuesday because the girl from "Precious" (really, really sorry but her name is hard to read/pronounce so I'm not even gonna try to spell it) is a huge *NSYNC fan. Leno has a segment "Earn Your Plug" where celebrities have to do certain things before plugging whatever they're there for. And being a huge *NSYNC fan, she said that she'd be really good at *NSYNC trivia.

She missed 1 question, about Lance's weird superstition, which I guessed correctly. She said she's such a dork knowing all these "useless *NSYNC trivia" but for some reason I knew all the answers from the top of my head (except for that one, I guessed) and I got them all right! I have A LOT of useless *NSYNC knowledge that's eating the space in my brain!

Some MTV Vids

So while I was on MTV.com for my last post, I thought I'd just take a little look on Justin's page there. Found some vids from him back in his *NSYNC days:

Timbaland Says Justin Timberlake's 'Carry Out' Is His Favorite Shock Value II Track

Got this from here.
Justin Timberlake is featured on a track called "Carry Out" on Timbaland's new LP, Timbaland Presents Shock Value II, out Tuesday (December 8). And considering the magic the two have made in the past (particularly on Timberlake's FutureSex/LoveSounds LP), it's no surprise that even alongside collabos with Miley Cyrus and Katy Perry, the JT track stands out as a potential radio blockbuster.

Wolfsburg 1-3 Manchester United

[Owen celebrating his third goal]
Michael Owen, hat-trick hero! Mickey who turns 30 in 6 days gets an early birthday present as he gets to keep the match ball after scoring all three Manchester United goals.

United needed only one point to make sure they come out on top of the group. It is an amazing win looking at the injuries that United has suffered. Starting the match with just one natural defender in Patrice Evra, United has never looked more weaker. The starting XI included eight midfielders, with Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick partnering Evra in a three-man defense. Paul Scholes leads the midfield alongside Anderson and Darron Gibson. Ji Sung Park mans the right wing, while Nani goes down the left. With Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov also unfit, Michael Owen and Danny Welbeck leads United's attack. Wolfsburg seems to have a very big chance of getting points here.

20 Classic TV Shows: The Season We Pick As Each Show's Peak

Another list from EW.com
What if you could only watch one season of ''Lost,'' ''Survivor,'' ''30 Rock,'' or ''Buffy''? See our picks, then tell us why we got it right or wrong
  • THE SIMPSONS Season 4 (1992-1993)
  • ALIAS Season 1 (2001-2002)
  • And so it began: The glam era of espionage drama, anchored by Jennifer Garner's Sydney Bristow, a grad student who pretended to toil at a bank while working undercover for the CIA at a criminal enterprise that pretended to be the CIA. (What? Spy stuff is complicated.) Season 1 was a white-knuckled, globe-spanning thrill ride, as Sydney tried to hide her secret identity from her friends and her double-agent status from the nefarious SD-6 while rocking cool disguises and clocking bad guys. All that, plus family intrigue! (The Man is...Mom?)
  • LOST Season 1 (2004-2005)
  • BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER Season 2 (1997-1998)
  • TWIN PEAKS Season 1 (1990-1991)

  • THE WEST WING Season 2 (2000-2001)
  • THE TWILIGHT ZONE Season 3 (1961-1962)

Hotties of the Decade: The Stars Who Made Us Sweat

  • Beyonce
  • Josh Holloway
  • Scarlett Johansson
  • Justin Timberlake
  • Justin Timberlake brought sexy back, and proved in the process that boy band breakouts could be pop A-listers. He created a wardrobe malfunction, cried us a river, and he, uh, cut a hole in that box — and looked damn good doing it.
  • Eva Longoria
  • Johnny Depp
  • Kate Winslet
  • Patrick Dempsey
  • Brad Pitt
  • Halle Berry

Injury problems deepen

United are facing an injury crisis of epic proportions, and not just in defence, with Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov joining an ever-increasing list of players on the treatment table.

There was a further blow to the Reds' rearguard with news that John O'Shea and Jonny Evans will both be out until the New Year.

Sir Alex took a depleted Reds squad to Germany for United's final Group B game with Wolfsburg - a 19-man group containing 13 midfielders.

Meet the new boys

The travelling party which left Manchester Airport for Wolfsburg on Monday morning contained a handful of faces unfamiliar to most United fans - Reserves and Academy devotees apart. So, who are the not-so-famous five who could feature against the Bundesliga champions?

Neurotic TV Characters We Love

With this week's series finale of "Monk," we said good-bye to one of the most beloved neurotic characters ever. After eight seasons, Tony Shalhoub has hung up his detective hat and his 312 phobias, including panic induced by harmonicas, ladybugs, mushrooms, and milk. We think this laundry list of fears, as well as his germophobia, anxiety disorder, and obsessive attention to detail have made Monk the most "decorated" crazy character in the history of television. But he certainly was not the first and won't be the last. So in honor of Adrian Monk, we give you our favorite neurotics on TV, past and present.

Carry Out

I'm obsessed with this song!! I've probably listened to it 25 times these 3 days (and I spent most of yesterday listening to *NSYNC's Home for Christmas). It's Timbaland and Justin Timberlake's new song, Carry Out. It's supposed to be on Timbaland's second album, Shock Value II, which I'm waiting for. I guess I could be just missing Justin so much since he hasn't come up with new music for a while now and he sang most of the song... And..I just got hooked to this!

West Ham 0-4 Manchester United

To be honest, I was a bit nervous going into this match because West Ham is never an easy team to play against, especially on their turf. But we ended up with a comfortable win, and kept a clean sheet, which is remarkable having literally no central defender, and ended up playing with 7 midfielders.

I love Chris and Joey!

They don't remember the lyrics very well but ... I LOVE *NSYNC!! (and the Backstreet Boys of course!)

Dexter

My latest obsession: Dexter. Dexter is a show about a serial killer, who has a conscience. He only kills murderers, so he justifies his acts as preventing more murderers to happen than the ones he committed. In his words, he's cleaning up Miami.

Portsmouth 1-4 Manchester United

[Rooney gets the ball after scoring a hat-trick]
Didn't watch the match and I haven't seen the highlights either. But from what I've heard, we started slow, and the home team had the better first half. However, on the second half, we turned the table around and ended up with the points with a comfortable margin.

Manchester United 3-0 Everton

Sexiest Troublemaker

In the People's magazine issue of Sexiest Men Alive, apparently Joel McHale got Sexiest Troublemaker. Now I really want to buy the magazine!!

<3 Joel!! You'll get the cover soon enough!

Neville will never go blue

Old Trafford will always remind you that Gary Neville is a red and that he hates Scousers. But we should never forget about little bro Phil. He's as red as Gary is and even though he wears blue now, he'll never be a blue... At least not City blue!

Something's definitely wrong with that girl! In an interview she was saying stuff like that's not her, she's not out there to hurt anyone bla bla bla... I just can't believe she only got a yellow card for all that crap!

People's Sexiest Man Alive 2009

Johnny Depp is named Sexiest Man Alive of 2009 by People Magazine. He now joins the elite group of men who won the title twice, following Brad Pitt and George Clooney. This came to a shock to a lot of people because they thought the favorite to win the title this year was a certain vampire ~ can I just say that I'm glad the people who voted for this had some sense! Congratulations to Mr. Depp!

Overdue library books returned half century later

Sat Nov 14, 2:17 pm ET
PHOENIX – A high school librarian in Phoenix says a former student at the school returned two overdue books checked out 51 years ago along with a $1,000 money order to cover the fines.

Camelback High School librarian Georgette Bordine says the two Audubon Society books checked out in 1959 and the money order were sent by someone who wanted to remain anonymous.

Bordine says the letter explained that the borrower's family moved to another state and the books were mistakenly packed.

The letter said the money order was to cover fines of 2 cents per day for each book. That would total about $745. The letter says the extra money was added in case the rates had changed.

Bordine says the money will buy more books, and the overdue books will be returned to the shelves.

Just thought it was interesting...

We're ranked!!!

[Rutgers team against USF]
PISCATAWAY, N.J. (November 15, 2009) – For the first time since 2007, Rutgers is ranked No. 25 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 college football poll. The Scarlet Knights made their debut in the national rankings in 2009 after a 31-0 victory over then 24th-ranked USF last Thursday night at Rutgers Stadium.

The last time Rutgers was ranked occurred in 2007 as the Scarlet Knights spent seven weeks in the Associated Press Top 25 rankings. The Scarlet Knights were last ranked the week of Oct. 21, 2007 at No. 25 in the AP Top 25 poll.

With this week’s ranking, it marks the fifth year in Rutgers history the Scarlet Knights have been ranked at some point during the season. Rutgers also joined the rankings in 1961, 1976, 2006 and 2007.

The 25th-ranked Scarlet Knights return to action Saturday, November 21 at Syracuse. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. from the Carrier Dome with live coverage on ESPN360.com. The Rutgers Football Radio Network will begin its pre-game coverage at 2:30 p.m. on WOR-710 AM in New York City, WPHT-1210 AM in Philadelphia and South Jersey and WCTC-1450 in Central Jersey.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Football is definitely growing in on me. Rutgers doesn't have the best team but we're getting better. I still don't know much about football. I only watch the SuperBowl for the commercials and the final score, but I do watch the Scarlet Knights when they play. But Rutgers has been getting better. People are starting to talk about the team and how much coach Schiano has done for us. My first introduction to Rutgers football was when they sent me the booklet thing after I was accepted.

LOL

Found this here:

Tickets to the biggest English soccer game of the year? Check. Jacket to protect against the chilly weather? Check. Money to buy some food and drink at the game? Check. Toothbrush to keep up with dental hygiene during the match? Uh ... check?
At Sunday's English Premier League match between Chelsea and Manchester United, an unidentified fan was seen brushing his teeth in the front row as cameras showed players Michael Owen and Salomon Kalou waiting to enter the game as substitutes:
My dentist can't even get me to floss, let alone bring my toothbrush to a sporting event. This guy is like a hero to the dental profession.
According to the Daily Mail, the gentleman called a BBC radio show and said he brought the toothbrush because he hadn't had a chance to brush before he left for the game. As for the sunglasses he was wearing at night? "I'm a ladies man," he explained. If ladies like clean teeth, it'd be hard to doubt him.

Guess I've been avoiding this for a while. But when I get around to watching the highlights and stuff I'll talk more about it...I guess... (all I know is that we didn't deserve to lose cos we played well!)

Dear God #6

I just want to thank You for giving me such wonderful family and friends. I know, as a human being, I'm never satisfied with what You've given me and I need to learn how to do so. But I really can't ask for better family and friends. So, thank You for letting me have these people around me.

Spring 2010 registration

I can register for classes in about...5 minutes! LOL This would be the first time I have an easy load (14 credits) since my first semester here! Taking 2 CS classes and 2 Econ classes. Still not sure which ones but I have a few ideas. Hopefully they won't be as hard as this semester's classes.

EDIT:
Done registering. Rutgers has definitely made this online registration thing A LOT easier since I got here! Just about 2-3 clicks and I'm registered for all 4 classes. WebReg has gotten a lot better. They also have Course Planner that, like the name says, makes planning courses so easy! The new look on Rutgers' website is pretty cool, too! I always love it when anything has a good website :) [I am a computer geek, aren't I?]

Ten most troubled states in the U.S.

The same economic pressures that pushed California to the brink of insolvency are wreaking havoc on other states, a new report has found.

And how state officials deal with their fiscal problems could reverberate across the United States, according to the Pew Center on the States' analysis released Wednesday.

The 10 most troubled states are: Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island and Wisconsin.

Other states -- including Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, New York and Hawaii -- were not far behind.

Justin on set

There are new J pics over at WoJ of him on the set of his new movie The Social Network. He doesn't seem too happy =s or maybe he was just tired... But I'm just so excited that we see him back on TV and stuff!! There was a tiny clip of him on set on E! News tonight, too! :)

And I was watching Chelsea Lately, their first story on the round table was about Justin and his stalker. Now I really believe that Chelsea actually love Justin! [^.^] (which is why Justin should totally be a guest on the show!!) Chelsea said something in the lines of "you can't stop anyone from loving Justin Timberlake." And when tonight's guest, Molly Sims, was on they talked about their girl crush on Jessica Biel, which I thought was funny...

[it is getting really hard to stay away from talking about his personal life! But I made a promise to myself so I'm not gonna talk about it]

GameBoy inducted to the Toy Hall of Fame

In a statement from the Strong National Museum of Play, a representative stated that the Nintendo Game Boy was admitted to its "National Toy Hall of Fame" because of its role as a major industry innovator.
nintendo game boy
"Nintendo Game Boy transformed the electronic-games market by popularizing handheld gaming. No video-game platform did more to put gamers 'on the go' than this invention. And go they did, bringing their gaming experience to school, to summer camp, and to the back seat of the family automobile," the Toy Hall of Fame explained in a statement. "Over the past two decades, Game Boy has become synonymous with hand-held gaming fun. Its portability and efficient design, ability to allow simultaneous multiplayer gaming, and scores of intriguing games (like Tetris and Super Mario Land, featuring Nintendo's already-iconic character Mario) make it a true innovator."

The National Toy Hall of Fame states that it "recognizes toys that have engaged and delighted multiple generations, inspiring them to learn, create, and discover through play. Criteria for induction include: Icon-status (the toy is widely recognized, respected, and remembered); Longevity (the toy is more than a passing fad and has enjoyed popularity over multiple generations); Discovery (the toy fosters learning, creativity, or discovery through play); and Innovation (the toy profoundly changed play or toy design)."

I loooved the GameBoy (maybe mainly because it came out with the first Pokemon games). I thought it was the coolest thing ever! I will never forget my transparent-purple GameBoy pocket that I bought in Singapore. It was awesome!

Blah...

Couldn't sleep last night. Wrapped up first night of studying at 3am and I thought I'd sleep for 4-5 hours so I can wake up early enough to get breakfast before class. Tossed and turned for HOURS and I was still wide awake. For some reason I thought watching videos from my iPhone would tire my eyes and make me fall asleep. Maybe it would have, if I didn't choose Justin's hosting gigs on SNL... It was already 5.30 by the time I was done, and it was getting loud outside. The sun was rising so I shut the blinds tight. Still couldn't sleep, I turned on my iPod and put on my headset, thinking it would isolate the outside noise that was distracting me. I guess it worked cos I relaxed more, but I didn't fall asleep. So basically I was in bed for 4+ hours, unable to fall asleep. My alarm went off at 7 o'clock so I decided that if I couldn't fall asleep by the time my second alarm goes off, it'd be better if I just stay awake. Sure enough I was up by 7.30. Now I'm not sure if I'm just too full or way too tired. Gonna load myself up with caffeine, hopefully crashing by the end of the day and not before!

[contemplating if I should stay away from Facebook, Twitter and Blogger this week so I can focus on studying]

Oh, whoops, how did this one get in here?

[Viva John Terry!]

LOL. ManUtd.com sure does have a sense of humor! Building up to the Chelsea game, they have an article United v Chelsea in Pictures and that was in it.

Ah, I totally forgot!!

That was Taylor Swift's monologue from her SNL gig which aired..a couple hours ago. I was planning to watch it (cos Taylor Swift is cool) but I totally forgot!! Luckily, as I said in my research paper (lol) we can find anything that's on TV online :) and this was on YouTube. I really didn't know what to expect cos sometimes she's really funny during interviews... SOMETIMES! But the monologue was good and I haven't watched anything else but the reviews that I've read so far said that she killed it. Gonna be watching a few vids tonight, then.

Community

[The cast of Community]

These past few weeks Joel has stopped shamelessly plugging his shows, so I decided I should start...LOL! I just love, love, LOVE Community! It's hilarious! Last week's Halloween episode has got to be the best! Abed as Batman = awesome! Yesterday's episode wasn't bad, either. But next week should be interesting, Jeff is joining the debate team. He's gonna be back doing what he does best! :)

thanks to that damned CS hw, I missed The Soup again >___<" *don't worry Joel, I'll catch it the next time it airs!*

Yesterday...

I found out that not eating a real meal for more than 24 hours is not the best idea. Well at least not when you're having your period! It made cramps way worse than it is and your body just can't deal with it.

New robo.to

Justin tweeted a couple of new robo.to vids again. Here's the second one:

Hackey sack? Really? Stop teasing us *NSYNC fans, JT!

Manchester United 3-3 CSKA Moscow

Only one thing to say: terrible, terrible defending! Granted Sir Alex plays a second string team, maybe looking ahead this weekend's fixture? But we have Johnny Evans and Wes Brown in central defense, both fairly established in their positions. The full back positions are filled by Gary Neville and Fabio.

Darren Fletcher is back from injury and is partnering Paul Scholes in the middle of the field. Nani and Antonio Valencia are given a chance to prove themselves again on the wings, while Michael Owen and Federico Macheda lead the attack. Edwin van der Sar is trusted to guard the posts.

Killing off a hero

There has been rumors that a major character in Heroes is going to be killed off this season, and it would be very surprising to everyone (apparently to the actor, too). It would be very unexpected because this character is one of the original characters who plays a major part of the series, you'd think that he's definitely safe. When I first heard about this, I thought, "it couldn't be Peter or Hiro or Sylar...wait, could it?!" I mean, they did give us a warning about this! This is what I found from E! Online:

Whoops!

I just realized that I post a birthday wish for every *NSYNC member except for Chris! >____<"

It was Chris' 38th birthday on October 17th.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CK!!

I'm only a couple weeks late! =p

Total fangirl moment...

If I knew how to squee, watching that definitely made me squee...

Joey and Chris raised 6K by doing the Bye Bye Bye dance at this year's Mask Care Aid Bash, an annual charity event held by the Chris Kirkpatrick Foundation. It's held on Halloween weekend every year to benefit under-privileged children so they can enjoy trick-or-treating, too!

Manchester United 2-0 Blackburn Rovers

Another win, duly delivered. Manchester United still struggles to be able to control the tempo of the game. They're always best playing in a high tempo match and they have failed to achieve that this season.

The pre-match talk was all about the absence of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, both unfit. Their spots were filled by Wes Brown and John O'Shea. Ryan Giggs is also out due to injury and Darren Fletcher is back on the bench, ready for next week's clash against Chelsea.

Barnsley 0-2 Manchester United

United's through to the last eight of the League Cup. The competition gives big clubs time to see how good their youngsters are, and United did just that. Sir Alex lining up a very young and excitingly talented squad.

Starting XI: Foster; Neville, Brown, J Evans, Fabio; Obertan, Anderson, Rafael, Welbeck; Owen, Macheda

[Obertan with an impressive display on his senior debut]

Liverpool 2-0 Manchester United

Terrible, terrible day... But I am glad that Sir Alex Ferguson accepts that his team just didn't do enough to avoid the loss.
Sir Alex left Anfield frustrated by refereeing decisions but admitted Liverpool deserved all three points on Sunday.

“It was a disappointing performance and Liverpool were better,” the boss told MUTV.

“We never got any luck in terms of refereeing decisions, but we have to hold our hands up: we weren’t good enough.”

TV break >.<

A couple of my favorite shows are taking a few weeks break :'(

House doesn't come back until November 9th. And I think Cameron would be on her way out then (previous reports say her last episode of the series' regular airs in November).

Newcomer Glee also takes a break until the same week, airing new episode on November 11th.

The worst, last Friday's episode of Psych was their fall finale!! They won't be back until January 2010!!! :'( The episode was really good though. Shawn told Jules that he loved her and she was gonna say it back! [^.^]

Also, late night talk shows are airing repeats this week (except for Leno and Kimmel). Luckily Chelsea Lately is still on!! So less TV for me this week! Which I guess could be a good thing.. but it doesn't help if I ended up sleeping way more.

I guess I can survive 3 weeks without Glee, but House?! And 3 months without PSYCH?! I'm soooo gonna miss Shawn Spencer!

Magic Mouse

Either this thing is extremely cool or I'm just a sucker for anything Apple ;p

Community, Thursday nights at 8/7c on NBC ;)

Look what Joel did to me! The show isn't on until 18 hours and 17 minutes from now and I'm "promoting" it already! But it's soooo good! Love the show! AND I LOVE JOEL MCHALE!!!

CSKA Moscow 0-1 Manchester United

[Starting XI]

Manchester United travelled to Moscow leaving five of their senior squad in England. Youngster Fabio started at left back, marking his first Champions League appearance. Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic completed United's defense. John O'Shea sits in front of the back four, partnering Paul Scholes in the central midfield area. Anderson, from the middle, with Nani and Antonio Valencia from the wings provided attacking support to lone striker Dimitar Berbatov.

Oh, Joel...what have you done to me?

[Joel McHale radio interview with Ryan Seacrest]
I am just obsessed with Joel McHale. He's adorably cute, attractively tall and most importantly has a great sense of humor! I can't stop watching/listening to him!! He hasn't done many interviews or talk shows so I kept on watching the same ones over and over again. Even downloaded the interviews he did with Ryan Seacrest on KISS FM.

He's always hilarious at Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Here are some videos of his hilarity:

Damn--this is not good

Five miss Moscow

Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, Patrice Evra, Ji-sung Park and Darren Fletcher will all miss United's Champions League trip to CSKA Moscow.

The five players - many of them probable starters in Sir Alex Ferguson's strongest line-up - were absent from the squad flying out of Manchester on Monday afternoon.

JT & Friends

So last night Justin (and his friends) had a concert as a charity for Shriner's Hospital for Children in Las Vegas. I was stuck here in my dorm room in the New Jersey weather. I really hope Justin does this every year for many years to come, cos I would love to come!!

Manchester United 2-1 Bolton Wanderers

[Celebrating the first goal]

Manchester United is back where they belong: top of the table! I gotta say this was a very, very good day. Chelsea lost, handing us the top spot, and Liverpool also lost!

Wayne Rooney is out of the team-sheet due to a calf strain suffered after playing for the England national team, giving playing time for the recently fit again Michael Owen and Dimitar Berbatov. Rio Ferdinand is given the confidence of the manager after a few shaky defending, leading the back four. Anderson and Michael Carrick were chosen for the central midfield pair, with Ryan Giggs and Antonio Valencia on the wings.

I didn't get to say goodbye :(

Papi, I really hope you know that I love you, even though I've never really said it. I do. We've never been close but I do love and respect you. You were driven, always passionate about the things you love. I will miss you, very much.

May you rest in peace, 4.45 am WIB, October 14th, 2009.

[Our family vacation for their 50th anniversary, just this past June]

Heroes - 404 Hysterical Blindness

At the end of the last episode, Nathan was killed by his ex-girlfriend's mother, who is also his mother's good friend. Of course, being actually Sylar, he woke up, but as Sylar. He doesn't remember anything, though. Mrs. Petrelli (forgot her name) is worried because she hasn't seen or heard from Nathan in a while. So excited about this story line... He, like Nathan in the previous episode, found out about his powers by accident.

Moving on to Peter. He bumped into the deaf girl, and got her power. So he lost his super speed, but he can see the lights of sounds, or whatever that is.

Claire's creepy roommate seems even creepier. I don't know what's wrong with her! Don't like her from the beginning, hopefully she'll be gone soon.

And the creepy guy from Prison Break seems like he's playing his psycho self again, this time with ability. Apparently the girl from Claire's sorority also has powers (invisibility), and working with the creepy guy. AND HE GOT SYLAR TO JOIN HIM!!!

my latest obsession

I'm in love with Joel McHale. He's so cute and tall and hilarious! I just love him... His standup at Rutgers was awesome. His show, Community, is good, too.

And if his stories are true, I really really want to meet Eddie McHale!

I <3 Joel McHale!

Joel McHale was hilarious!!! First of all, the opening act, Louis something, was really funny. None of the jokes was a miss, IMO. Joel came on, looking as good as he always does (even though I was far away and couldn't really see him), and I just started laughing before he said anything. I don't know, he just acts funny too! He opened up with Miley Cyrus quitting Twitter, and moved on to his usual subjects, the Kardashians, Ryan Seacrest, Tyra Banks, etc. He also made fun of Rutgers a couple times, which was awesome.

He was making jokes about this guy in the audience, some of them were pretty harsh but if the guy has a sense of humor, he'd laugh at it. Was pretty funny...

I love, love, LOVE Joel McHale! I'm definitely watching The Soup, The Informant! (well I'm gonna watch it anyway since Matt Damon's in it) and Community (which I think with Cougar Town is one of the best new comedies).

JT & Friends promo

I so, so, SOOOOOO wanna be there!!! >.<

Best Jobs in America

I was just checking Yahoo for news/articles to read as I always do everyday, and I found this. (Only the ones I'm interested in, or have the slightest chance to get into, will be copied with the full descriptions).

In the midst of the worst job market in three decades, you might think the only thing people care about when it comes to their career is having a job and keeping it. But when Money and PayScale.com, a leading online provider of employee-compensation data, surveyed 35,000 people online about what makes a great job, they rated intellectual challenge, a passion for the work, and flexibility just as highly as security. Perhaps the financial crisis has made many of us realize that we’re going to be on the job a few extra years, so we might as well be doing work we can enjoy.

1. Systems Engineer
Median salary (experienced): $87,100
Top pay: $130,000
Job growth (10-year forecast): 45%
Sector: Information Technology

2. Physician Assistant
Median salary (experienced): $90,900
Top pay: $124,000
Job growth (10-year forecast): 27%
Sector: Healthcare

3. College Professor
Median salary (experienced): $70,400
Top pay: $115,000
Job growth (10-year forecast): 23%
Sector: Education

4. Nurse Practitioner
Median salary (experienced): $85,200
Top pay: $113,000
Job growth (10-year forecast): 23%
Sector: Healthcare

5. Information Technology Project Manager
Median salary (experienced): $98,700
Top pay: $140,000
Job growth (10-year forecast): 16%
Sector: Information Technology
What they do: Keep big tech projects like software upgrades running on time--and on budget. "We bring order to chaos," says April Ellison, an IT project manager in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Why it's great: Lots of opportunity. "Just about all companies need techsavvy people who are great managers," says Houston tech recruiter Linda Ranostaj. Figuring out how to implement cutting-edge technologies keeps the job challenging. Good upward mobility: IT project managers can rise to chief technology officer of a company, where the salaries can hit $300,000. Do you prefer to work for yourself? The field offers plenty of consulting work.
Drawbacks: Hours (and hours and hours) of meetings. Aggressive project timelines. Staff jobs can be outsourced to consultants.
Pre-reqs: Five to seven years of technology and computer-related experience. A project management professional certification, along with an MBA, will enhance career prospects.

8. Computer/Network Security Consultant
Median salary (experienced): $99,700
Top pay: $152,000
Job growth (10-year forecast): 27%
Sector: Information Technology
What they do: Protect computer systems and networks against hackers, spyware, and viruses. "I consider myself a cybercrime fighter," says Gregory Evans, an independent computer security consultant in Atlanta.
Why it's great: No company or government agency can afford to have a serious breach in the security of its computer system. New technologies and an unending supply of creative hackers around the world keep the field challenging. Consultants can often work from home. And top-level pros command big paychecks.
Drawbacks: Talk about stress. If a system is infiltrated by a virus or hacker, it could mean lights out for the security consultant's career. "This is a job you can't afford to ever fail in," says Evans.
Pre-reqs:
Mostly major geekdom, since the skills can be self-taught. Still, a computer science degree comes in handy. An information systems security professional certification (CISSP) is increasingly favored. Experience is key for better-paying positions: Most companies won't hire a consultant with less than five years of experience.

9. Intelligence Analyst
Median salary (experienced): $82,500
Top pay: $115,000
Job growth (10-year forecast): 15%
Sector: Government

10. Sales Director
Median salary (experienced): $140,000
Top pay: $239,000
Job growth (10-year forecast): 10%
Sector: Sales and Marketing

LOL @ "mostly major geekdom for #8 prereq! Guess I need to be more of a geek to be successful in this field, huh?
