Home!!

I'm finally home!! Arrived in the country yesterday morning, at around 9am. I don't remember much about the flights themselves but I know they were painful!

It was around 7-8 hours from JFK to Frankfurt. I got to walk around the airport for about an hour and a half, but there was nothing there... Then it was the long, 11+ hours flight from Frankfurt to Singapore. I had the nice aisle seat close to the back of the plane but I was asked if I wanted to switch seats with this guy because his family members were seating on the seats next to mine. And could I really say no? I ended up getting a middle seat a little bit to the front. Didn't like it at all, but what can I do? It was so freaking long and it was so hard to be comfortable...

I finally got to Singapore at around 6am local time, and it was still dark outside! Strange thing, Changi feels so much like home. Been there too often I guess. But it's a really nice airport so I wouldn't mind staying there for hours. I was only there for about 2 hours or so. Loved the free internet cos I haven't been online for so long (or so it seemed). Then I had to go back into yet another plane for my final 2hour flight to Juanda. And then, I'm finally home...

Before immigration they had us fill out a form for H1N1 flu, to see if we have any contact with someone who has it, or if we have the symptoms ourselves. Then they sprayed something to our hands and carry-on luggage.

I got a little bit of jet-lag. I was so tired by 3pm yesterday so I decided to take "a little nap". That little nap of mine was from 4-9.30pm! lol Then at 1am I was again tired and went to bed, hoping to return to my normal sleeping habit. But at 5.30 am I woke up. Forced myself back to sleep, I managed to not wake up until 8am. Decided that it would be best to get up and watch AC360 :) [didn't know they show it here..it was live, too!] But it was strange because the live blog wasn't up today. It was also strange to be watching AC in the morning.

Hopefully this jetlag would go away soon, cos I want to start going out with my friends again.

And I'm currently reading A Study in Scarlet, the first novel of the Sherlock Holmes stories. I bought the Barnes & Noble version of The Complete Sherlock Holmes, Volume 1, and it's very interesting. I got interested because House was based on this character. But in reality I think David Shore picked some of Holmes' characteristics and some of Watson's to create House. And it was the genius move! House is such an interesting character. Holmes, I don't know yet. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle hasn't shown us much of Holmes' character. I'm hoping that I'd read a lot this summer.

Anderpost!! (Yes, I'm still obsessed)

A couple quotes/interview excerpts after the jump..

This is from New York Magazine... a while back... lol

Last night we sent a reporter to Elton John's AIDS Foundation benefit with a mission: Find Anderson Cooper and ask him about his bodacious new biceps. Bennett Marcus, our intrepid interviewer, took on the task and confronted Cooper about his ginormous guns. Below is what transpired:

Your biceps are really big lately. How are you working out?

“Wow. What is my workout routine — I’ve never been asked that question! Um, I don’t know [Ed. note: At this point, Cooper appeared to be dying of flustration.], I’ve just been … working with a trainer and uh, I don’t know, lifting a little weight, and running a little. I don’t know.

Is that new? The trainer and the rest?

Uh, you know, I just turned 40, so yes, I’m trying to be a little bit healthier now and trying to eat a little bit more sensibly. And also, with traveling so much, you know, it’s tough when you’re in Iraq to do anything, so I try to work out when I’m here. [Ed. note: Best. Quote. Ever.] This is really … I sound ridiculous.

They gave me this question, I’m not kidding.

Wow, well, I didn’t know that New York Magazine would notice my biceps. My trainer will be thrilled. I’m going to pass this along to him. His name is TJ. He’ll be very excited.

All right, if you're like me, your idea of a good workout is flexing your pecs while trying to open a package of Twinkies without damaging the moist, tender goodies within. Not that I even have pecs.

Anderpost

One of the many cool pictures of Anderson Cooper. He does love to drink Coke.

Found a cute video by Barry something, before AC hosted ABC's reality show The Mole (video under the cut).

"so much for your news credibility"

And another one... how young does Andy look? (I call him Andy like I call Matthew Perry "Matty" because I think I know both of them well enough lol)

some AC love

So here's a post about my latest obsession, Mr. Anderson Hays Cooper. I actually watch the news now because of him! AC360 is on at 10pm on weekdays on CNN lol...

March 7, 2008 Anderson Cooper had a lecture at University of Arkansas. Here I have some quotes that I just love. (taken from ATA)

"My mom was never the person I went to for advice as a kid. She's amazing, but practical she is not. I asked my mom for advice on what I should do when I was going to apply for a job as a waiter in high school. She told me to wear vertical stripes because they're slimming." He waits for the audience to catch up...he's wearing a pinstripe suit..."Obviously I took some of her advice to heart without realizing it."
AC talked about how when he first started at CNN he was horrible at morning news, but rather than firing him they just one day told him he was going to Afghanistan but when he got there he was alone. No crew, no story to chase...they just told him to wait...people didn't answer his calls, until one day he called his office to check his messages and some other anchor answered his phone and he realized he'd been replaced. That, he said, was the real reason he didn't like to take days off, he was afraid they'd replace him and no one would bother to tell him. He said "The only scary thing about leaving the anchor seat is worrying that somebody better is going to replace you while you're gone."
When asked about the most exciting thing he'd ever done, he said, "Getting shot at is pretty exciting...it's hard to find excitement at home after all that."

He's just so hot with those blue eyes and THE HAIR!!! LOOOVE the hair! He's very charming, polite, and such a gentleman! He's so freaking smart and funny and cute and just adorable!! Yes, he's only 1-2 years younger than my parents but who cares?!

[gonna start posting about AC and keeping some pictures of him... why didn't I start earlier?!]

LOL

Vintage *NSYNC vid surfaced on MTV.com!

Gotta love these guys!

Summer is here!!

Well not exactly but I'm done with my Sophomore year at Rutgers. It all happened so fast. It was finals week and I had my Microecon exam pretty late. After I took the exam I went back to my room to pack everything and I left right away. What I didn't realize was that might be the last time I was a Rutgers student. I didn't even get to actually see or do anything there! And it's already been two years! (seems so much faster than it really is)

I got accepted to University of Maryland for Fall 2009 transfer so now I have to decide if I should go to UMD or not. It is a better school (it's ranked higher) and the Computer Science department is really good! It's ranked 13th. But going to a new school means I have to do it all over again. Adapting with the new environment, making new friends, getting used to life there... Plus it's such a hassle having to move all the way over there. And it's unlikely that I would get on campus housing, which means I might have to live off campus, making it harder to make friends or meet people. If I stay at Rutgers I would be living in a river dorm. That would be new and exciting and I would be able to meet new people! But then again, Maryland would be new and exciting too... From the pictures, Maryland seems to be a really nice campus.

J Hosting SNL

Justin hosted SNL last night with musical guest Ciara. Been waiting all week long for this and he delivered! It was hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing for the whole 90 minutes! My two faves were Immigrant Tale and Motherlover (videos below). He brought back some of his famous sketches and the digital short with Andy Samberg (Motherlover) was a Mother's Day special, similar to D*ck in a Box for the Christmas special. It was hilarious!

And we're off to Rome!!

Manchester United gets their chance to be the first team to retain the Champions League in May 27, 2009 after beating Arsenal 4-1 on aggregate.

[the team saluting the immense traveling crowd after the match]

After a flawless performance at Old Trafford 6 days earlier United came to London expecting a tough fight from the home side. Arsenal started the match looking strong and attacking United right from when the whistle was blown. However, it was United who was able to strike first, and second... Inside 11 minutes, the away side was 2-0 up, with goals by Ji Sung Park and Cristiano Ronaldo. All hopes seemed to be lost right then and there, even tough the match barely started.

One thing's for sure, United's team depth has once again proven vital in this late stage. Sir Alex Ferguson also had his tactics right.

In the 60th minute, just when Arsenal looked like they were climbing their way back into the game and pressuring United's defense, United broke away and created one of the best counter attacks we'll see this season. Rio Ferdinand headed the ball away from a cross and Ronaldo ran back to pick it up. With a beautiful flick he found Park who was trying to get the break going. He saw Wayne Rooney running through the left and laid a nicely weighted pass. Rooney went forward and inside the penalty box. Could have went for it himself but decided to pull it back and crossed it to Ronaldo who had continued his run. David Beckham who was in the stadium looked pleased with the show. (LOOOVE his reaction to that third goal!) Right then, a lot of Arsenal fans were leaving the stadium. United's fans grew louder and louder.

[David Beckham congratulates former team mates Gary Neville and Ryan Giggs in United's dressing room after the game]

There were probably more United fans than Arsenal fans in the stadium. It was the perfect night for the Red Devils. They were able to rest Anderson and take off Rooney and Patrice Evra who were one yellow card away from suspension, and brought on Ryan Giggs, Dimitar Berbatov and Rafael Da Silva.

The only downside of this match was caused by the referee, for sending off Darren Fletcher for a fair tackle. Fletch tracked back from midfield like he's supposed to, decided to get his leg around Cesc Fabregas and took the ball away from him, from a goal scoring opportunity. The ref must have seen that the ball changed direction, meaning Fletch won the tackle. But he decided to award the penalty. Even more stupid, sent off Fletcher! Poor Fletch, who has been amazing the whole season, now have to sit out the game in Rome.

[The questionable decision by the referee means Darren Fletcher has to miss the final in Rome]

Be it Barcelona or Chelsea, Manchester United is waiting to be the first team to conquer Europe twice in a row since the modern era began.

Rutgersfest 2009!!

This year's Rutgersfest was on Friday May 1. The performers were The N Result, Ryan Leslie, Motion City Soundtrack and N.E.R.D.

[picture taken from Lisa's Facebook]

We went at around 2 and saw the last performance by The N Result (Lisa got a picture with the lead singer) and waited for Ryan Leslie. Just when he started it rained. Me and Lisa decided that we should stay and wait for N.E.R.D who were the last performer, of course. I thought since we were already drenched, why not stay? Motion City Soundtrack was pretty cool. After they were done we waited forerver until N.E.R.D finally showed up. Pharrell was so hot! I wasn't exactly sure which one Chad was but Lisa said he got fat, maybe that's why I didn't recognize him? Shay or Shea, whatever his name is, was the first to show up on stage. N.E.R.D. was awesome!!

That day was definitely memorable. When else will I stand there under the rain for 5 hours getting pushed around everywhere and almost got kicked in the head?

My iPhone ended up dying because of the rain and I was getting sick but I am feeling better now. Man I really miss my iPhone!! I'm just hoping that my 5 year old iPod Mini would work a little bit... I really need it! Now I won't be able to play games throughout classes anymore. Thankfully we only have 1 last day of classes! But then what would I do in the 17 hours flight without my iPhone?? I know my iPod won't even last a couple hours... I really hope I can get a new one!
