The Evolution of the College Dorm

I was looking through some lists from Time.com and found this one. I was quite jealous of all the fancy things that are available at other schools, and I always think that the housing at Rutgers sucks; but then I came across this:

The Evolution of the College Dorm From the monastic rooms of the
1950s to today's luxury residence halls, TIME examines the ever-changing
 ways that students live
Rec at Rockoff
Rutgers University's $55 million Rockoff Dorm features a Coldstone Creamery, a 7/11 and a state-of-the-art gym; residents also enjoy grocery delivery, room cleaning and laundry services. One hitch: Rockoff is only open to juniors and seniors. "If you have all the things you need in your own unit, you never go outside," says Joan Carbone, Executive Director of Residence Life at Rutgers, who believes traditional dorms offer the best environment for freshmen interaction. And while some schools use high-end housing to draw prospective freshmen, Carbone says Rutger's academic record is appealing enough: "We don't have to go into the arms race to attract students.
I really, really wanted to live in Rockoff next year. It's my senior year and I wanted the best housing there is. Unfortunately the lottery system screwed me (and my friends) over.

*swoon*

[I would drop dead if he looked at me like that]

Twenty People Who’ve Gotten Sexier With Age

1) George Clooney

clooney Twenty People Whove Gotten Sexier With Age
1985 George Clooney was a handsome guy with a Stamos-esque hairstyle and a dopey persona to match. 2010 George Clooney, with his sparkling eyes and self-deprecating wit, pretty much defines “sexy older guy.” P.S.

2) Mary-Louise Parker

3) Robert Downey, Jr.

downey Twenty People Whove Gotten Sexier With Age
Robert Downey, Jr. has had a, uh… “varied” career, to put it kindly. And while he was always a good-looking guy, he was never as hot as he is now, on the other side of his well-publicized struggles. A few lines on his face, a hint of having seen it all, and a string of entertaining roles: all Downey, Jr. needed to go from attractive fuck-up to a rakish sex symbol. — J.R.

Justin in Manila

[Timbaland and Timberlake on stage]
So I went halfway around the world to be closer to Justin and he went to the Philippines and do a concert there?! Oh well...

Justin performed in Manila on March 27th with Timbaland for his Shock Value II tour. This user has a bunch of videos on YouTube, and he looks HAWT!!! When, oh when will I be able to watch Justin perform live?

Sir, I'm gonna have to ask you to exit the donut!

This year's Kids Choice Awards was on last night and I was quite happy that I don't know half the people who were there! BUT!! Cole and Dylan Sprouse, the cute twin, has grown up!! Their voices changed, they looked different and they're A LOT taller! Still cute though. And I still think Cole is more handsome than Cody =p

Anywaaaaays... the only reason I tuned in to the (otherwise unbearable) show was because RDJ was presenting. Look at how cute he is!!! He was wearing one of those flip glasses (is that what they're called?).

[Downey at this year's KCAs]

2010 Formula 1

I was quite upset when I went on the website just before the season started to find that: (a) Kimi Raikkonen is nowhere to be found and (b) Michael Schumacher is back, but not with Ferrari, with Mercedes GP! I mean, what the heck?!?! Ferrari now has Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso as their drivers. And I think they banned cigarette companies from sponsorships (they were talking about it before) because Marlboro is not on the Ferrari anymore.

I am still disappointed by how things turn out in that world but I was very excited about this sport and I might try to follow it again. Apparently they changed the points system, too! Now positions 1-10 gets 25, 18, 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 points respectively.

Bolton Wanderers 0-4 Manchester United

Leading up to this game, the other two title contenders, Arsenal and Chelsea, had their chance to state their case. While Arsenal dropped two points away at Birmingham City, Chelsea demolished the visiting Aston Villa 7-1. I have to say, I was quite nervous. Bolton has never been an easy opponent, and with Chelsea's win, United can't afford to drop any points.

Top scorer Wayne Rooney and England captain Rio Ferdinand were not included in the line-up at all, causing some worries among the United supporters. The start of the game was nerve-wrecking for United fans, as United were unable to pick up the pace. However, after 10 minutes into it, the midfield started to click in and veterans Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes ran the show. Their passes throughout the game were unbelievable!

Manchester United 2-1 Liverpool

[Neville and Fletcher celebrating the win over arch rival after the final whistle]
United moved back to the top of the table above Arsenal and one, significant step closer to a 19th championship and record fourth consecutive Premier League title with this well-deserved 2-1 win over fierce rivals Liverpool.

It was hearts-in-mouths time after just five minutes when Fernando Torres put the visitors in front with a free header. But United recovered when Wayne Rooney scored the rebound from his saved penalty kick six minutes later. From then on Sir Alex Ferguson’s men dominated, and the winner arrived after an hour when Ji-sung Park’s diving header sent Old Trafford into delirious celebration.
Click here for full match report.

I hate the fact that spring break is over but I can't really complain too much today! Top of the league, 18 points ahead of Liverpool, keeping them away from the top 4!

EDIT: Just found out that Chelsea drew at Blackburn! This is just the cherry on top!!

UCL QF: Bayern Munich

The draw for the Champions League quarter-finals were finally made earlier today and Manchester United is set to face Bayern Munich. It should be an interesting tie. Both teams have had good spells of late and even though the 1999 Barcelona final will always be the talking point of a match between the two teams, Bayern has won the next two of the four meetings of the teams (the other two were draws).

United chief executive David Gill says:
We’ve got Liverpool this weekend, Bolton away next Saturday, then Bayern away, Chelsea at home and Bayern at home, so it’s a fantastic fixture list.

The first leg will be in Germany and the boys will be back to Old Trafford for the second leg, which is how I, and United I presume, prefer it. If United beat the Germans, they will face the winner of the all-French quarter final match between Lyon and Bordeaux, at Old Trafford for the first leg.

First up: LIVERPOOL ON SUNDAY!!! GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED!

Day 7: John 4-5

Forgot to read one last night so it's doubled tonight.

when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.
-John 5:25b

I don't think I'm hearing, and I still don't know how to change that. I don't actually have the will to do so.

You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life.
I have come in My Father's name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive.
-John 5:39-40, 43

I feel like even though I'm reading the Bible, it is not reflected on my daily life. Baby steps, right? Hopefully the reading of the Bible doesn't stop and then I can actually live as how God wants me to.

Hargo's Back!!

Owen Hargreaves, after 16 months at the sidelines, is back in action with United Reserves against Burnley. United #4 played the full 45 minutes of the first half.
[Hargreaves in action]
I'm just so glad that he gets some time on the field! Hope we'll see him back in the first team soon and maybe he'll be in the England's World Cup squad!

Love = Robert + Susan

He is weird, but that's why we love him!! How adorable are they?!

First Look: Bad Teacher

Here's the first picture from the set of Bad Teacher, Justin's upcoming romcom movie with ex Cameron Diaz.

Today's Reading: John 2

In the Bible, Jesus shows miracles to His disciples to make them believe in Him and God. To me, every single day is Him showing me signs of His power and glory. And, again, I was reminded that I should not be chasing these materials, instead I should be learning more about Him. All the time I've spent "worshiping" all the things in this materialistic world I live in, I should have spent worshiping Him.

10 things that mattered at the Oscars

from here. Here's #6 on the list:
A forgotten fact about this year's Oscars is that before Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin were approached to do this year's hosting, Ben Stiller and Robert Downey, Jr. were asked to co-host the awards. The pair turned down the offer, and while Robert Downey, Jr. was hilarious (per usual) opposite Tina Fey when presenting Best Original Screenplay, it was Ben Stiller who stole the show, coming out dressed up as one of the Na'vi from "Avatar." This is only another in a series of hilarious presentations he's given over the years (look up his 2006 or 2009 presentations) for some technical categories that most viewers regularly don't care about or don't pay attention to. Few presenters are capable of doing that, but Ben Stiller does it regularly.
WHY?!?!?! RDJ and Stiller hosting would be WAAAAY better than Steve and Alec!!

Geeking out!

On this week's TBBT episode, the guys got to meet one of their heroes, Stan Lee. While on the line to meet him, Raj mentioned that Stan Lee always name his Marvel characters with first and last names that start with the same character. Since I've been obsessing about RDJ and Iron Man 2, I was pretty intrigued. So I actually went online and searched for Stan Lee characters that is as Raj described. I have the list but I left it at Rutgers. I just thought it's an interesting trivia. Well Stan Lee doesn't always do it but it can't be just a coincidence that a lot of them do.

Dear God #8

Is faith enough? I know I have faith and I completely believe in You. I understand that faith is important and I should never lose even the slightest of my faith. But only having faith is not enough. I should also be committed, in my day-to-day life. It was quite strange for me that last night, when I had this thought, what came to my mind was a quotation from RDJ, "what's hard is to decide" (from the Oprah interview). I always say that I want it, but I'm not actually committed to it, I'm just saying it. I guess I want to want it, I just don't, yet. I have to decide that I really want it, and actually live by it. I really hope I am progressing that way, instead of the other way.

Justin Timberlake Contemplates The Meaning Of Celebrity In 'Popology'

Posted 3/10/10 2:15 pm ET by Kyle Anderson in Music

They say a well-rounded education is the key to success, and if that truly is the case, the my schooling is woefully incomplete when it comes to the subject of pop. That's why we bring you "Popology," the guide to modern radio-friendly stars as seen through the eyes of a guy who grew up on punk and metal. In case you missed the debut, check out my thoughts on Britney Spears' landmark debut.
In this week's installment, *NSYNC drop their swan song.

Manchester United 4-0 AC Milan

The match was two days ago but I've been so freaking busy I can't even make a simple post!
It was oh-so-easy for United on Wednesday as goals on either side of the break from Wayne Rooney and second-half strikes from Ji-sung Park and Darren Fletcher helped the Reds cruise into the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Best (and Worst) Dressed Men at the 2010 Oscars

[Robert Downey, Jr. and wife Susan at this year's Oscars]
Find out what you can learn from the best tux, tie, shades, arm candy, and more on a red carpet that, for once, belonged to the men

The Doesn't-Give-a-Damn Award: Robert Downey Jr.
Downey seems to take a zero-sum approach to black-tie: for every detail he gets right in his tuxedo (razor sharp peak lapels, slim fit), he cancels it out with a fk-you accessory (shades, blue tie) that holds him back from red-carpet greatness. Good thing he's still pretty great.

LOVE IT!! He doesn't give a shit because he's Robert Downey, Jr.!!

Andy Richter speaks his mind

just a little something

I had my ECON 320 Intermediate Micro Analysis midterm yesterday. The professor wasn't there; instead, there were two proctors. [His message to us: "There will be two proctors in class, be nice to them..."] One of them said, before the period begins, "there are two parts on this exam. Part 1 is multiple choice, part 2 is open-ended questions. You have to do either part 1 or part 2, not both! If you do both parts, the professor won't grade your exam!" So basically we have to choose to do either the 30 multiple choice questions, or the 3 open-ended questions. It was pretty nerve-wrecking, for me, since I wasn't quite ready for the exam (didn't really study for it). But since I do better in calculations than theory, I did the open-ended questions. Luckily, they're basically all calculations, except for a little part of one of the questions.

Nothing special, but I just thought it was an interesting way to give us an exam.

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards

This year's ceremony was held last night. All the winners have been predicted beforehand, though. At least for the top categories. The Hurt Locker was a big winner. Jeff Bridges and Sandra Bullock won in Leading Role categories, while Christoph Waltz and Mo'Nique won the Supporting Roles.

One thing I have to say, during the red carpets, George Clooney pulled up in his limo with his Italian girlfriend, and unlike other celebrities who goes straight to the red carpet, George ran across the street from the Kodak Theatre to greet fans who are waiting at the other side of a fence. He ran all the way down to greet everyone there, which I thought was very sweet of him. He seemed to be in a good mood all night long and played along with one of the hosts Alec Baldwin's stare-downs.
And I think I now know why Matt Damon was laughing on his way out to the stage to present an award:

The awesomeness of Sandy Bullock

This year has been such a great year for Sandra Bullock, with movies like The Proposal, with its huge blockbuster success, and The Blind Side, which gave her an Oscar nomination for Best Lead Actress (and the movie itself is nominated for Best Picture).

But the movie that she did with Bradley Cooper (who I love) All About Steve didn't do as well as the other two. Her role in it actually won her a Razzie, the same year when she's the front runner for the Oscar. She showed up to receive the awards and give an acceptance speech:

How could you not love Sandy?!

Today: Oscars!

Tonight is the biggest night of the movie industry: The 82nd Annual Academy Awards. It's quite interesting this year because they're changing it up a bit. They have 2 hosts for the night, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. Instead of 5 nominations, the Best Picture category has 10 (even though, basically, the real race is only between Avatar and The Hurt Locker). The race for the Best Director category is also between those two movies, with James Cameron for Avatar and his ex-wife Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker.

DUBAI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES -- Even by the standards of a city that celebrates extravagance, it was a spectacular shopping spree: In just two weeks early last year, an 11-year-old boy from Azerbaijan became the owner of nine waterfront mansions.

This past two weeks...

...has been just crazy! I've had so much crap to do that I might have gotten stressed. I said might, because, well, I wasn't sure. LOL

Anyways, so it started with a quiz for my Intermediate Micro class on Wednesday. I had tennis earlier that day and I couldn't get enough sleep the night before so in the afternoon, I was dead tired. The quiz was at 6.10 p.m., and would you honestly think I'd study beforehand? I pretty much crammed as much as the two chapters as possible and decided to take a rest because I just couldn't take it anymore. And then I went, took the quiz, felt okay about it even though I wasn't sure about any of it.

Chart Beat Wednesday: Justin Timberlake

THIS JUST IN ...: Timbaland's "Carry Out" lifts 12-9 on Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart, pushing featured artist Justin Timberlake past Akon and Nelly for most top 10s among solo males.

The song is Timberlake's 13th top on the chart and first since T.I.'s "Dead and Gone," on which Timberlake guested, reached the top 10 a year ago this week.

JT and Camy D are back together again!

Just for a movie, but it would be interesting to see them together again. Plus, I've always loved Diaz's rom-com movies. Justin and Cameron will star opposite each other in Bad Teacher, a Columbia Pictures movie set to be directed by Jake Kasdan.

The plot chronicles the misadventures of a social-climbing junior high instructor (Diaz) who, upon being dumped by her sugar daddy, sets out to seduce a substitute teacher (Timberlake) who, as luck would have it, is also the heir to a watch fortune.

Read more: http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b169716_justin_timberlake_hooking_back_up_with.html#ixzz0hFGKJDSA

This would be Justin's first lead role (and apparently he beat Joel McHale, among others, in table reads and other tests to get the part).

*NSYNC.com

They have *NSYNC's website back up!! It's not much, the "bio" part seems copy-pasted from some other website. And the rest are just links to each of they guys' official website, Twitter, or MySpace pages. But just having the website up makes it feel like we're one step closer to a reunion. Well, I know it probably means nothing to the guys but it's just nice to see all the guys back together, even if it's just their pictures on the same website.
