CSKA Moscow 0-1 Manchester United

[Starting XI]

Manchester United travelled to Moscow leaving five of their senior squad in England. Youngster Fabio started at left back, marking his first Champions League appearance. Gary Neville, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic completed United's defense. John O'Shea sits in front of the back four, partnering Paul Scholes in the central midfield area. Anderson, from the middle, with Nani and Antonio Valencia from the wings provided attacking support to lone striker Dimitar Berbatov.

The pitch in Luzhniki Stadium is synthetic, which creates a lot of backspin to the ball when it bounces. Never playing in a pitch like this, veteran Scholes is still on top of his passing game. His defense-splitting passes were perfect, even using the backspin to find his teammates and confusing the opponents. What's weird was that even the Russians seemed rattled by the awkward bounces.

United controlled possession early on and the home side didn't look too dangerous throughout the match. A couple mistakes by the United players led to a few Moscow chances but other than that, the traveling team was controlling the game.

Frustration started to creep into the players as they were unable to score. Valencia finally scored his second United goal in the 86th minute, after hitting the post earlier.

United sits tight on top of the group table. Big game on Sunday, traveling to the Loserfools Anfield. Out of the five players missing the trip, only Patrice Evra is said to be fit. Fingers crossed for the other four guys! Luckily, The fools themselves are hit by injuries at the moment. Still gonna be an amazing game though! MICKEY OWEN TO SCORE IN FRONT OF THE KOP FOR UNITED!!!
