My 2011

This is just one of those end-of-the-year posts, so ignore me.

2011 has got to be one of the most eventful years of my life. There were so many firsts this year, and a few lasts. So many big life moments.

The last of Ten

I was finally brave enough to watch David Tennant's last episode(s) on Doctor Who.

Tuesday, December 20, 2011

So I just thought of something...

Santa Claus is a Time Lord! Because how else would he be able to deliver all those toys in one night?! Also, the sleigh (TARDIS) has to be bigger on the inside to carry all those gifts!

Okay, so I may not be the first one to think that because this is available
This is what I think about while I'm at work...

My latest celeb crush: David Tennant

Screen cap. I mean, look at this guy!
I don't know why it took me this long to finally get into Doctor Who and discover David Tennant. I'm currently halfway through season 3 (or series 3, as they're called in Britain), and I'm actually a little bit torn between wanting to not stop watching the episodes and not wanting to see David Tennant regenerate. I only have 1.5 seasons left of DT and I don't want it to ever end!

I think Blogger is lying to me

I've always been suspicious of the Blogger Stats because, well, it's telling me that there are people who actually view my posts. I mean, seriously, why would anyone do that? I know most of it is because I posted my homework answers for the Astronomy classes that I took (even though most of the answers are wrong. I really didn't do well in college). But I just checked and it told me that there were 155 pageviews today alone. That is such a lie! I'm pretty sure no one actually views anything except for those homework answers, and the numbers seem way too high. And 130k+ all time views? There is just no way.

But then there's also AdSense. I signed up for it about 3 months ago, because why not? There's that tiny box of ads over there ---->
And they're telling me that it made me $13 last month? I had 3 new posts last month, and only 5 in October. Those were random posts too, mostly about TV shows that I watch. I'm not gonna complain if they're sending me $15 for doing absolutely nothing. But I am curious about how accurate these numbers are, though. I just find them very strange and unbelievable.

Why I'm excited this holiday season: PRESENTS!!

  1. Department secret santa tomorrow at work. Would be pretty interesting to see what everyone got everyone with a limit of $15. Even though I still can't figure out what to get my giftee. But hey, still excited!
  2. MY REDDIT SECRET SANTA SHIPPED TWO PACKAGES!! The first one is an order from Etsy that he/she thinks I would love. Love Etsy, and can't wait to see what it is! The second one was shipped late last night and SS didn't say anything about it but TWO SHIPMENTS!! Since I got my first message from SS, I get so excited walking in to my apartment building, in the hope of a random, mysterious package. :] So for the next week, I will anxiously wait for the package notification on my mailbox.
  3.  Kim called me last night, talked about our plans for January, and told me that she found "the perfect gift" for me. And she added that it's "quite nerdy" and she hoped I'd use it. You have no idea how excited I am for this. Also excited to see her again in a couple weeks. ;)
  4. Doctor Who marathons. Because David Tennant. Yeah. Not really a present. But still.

Of all the fandom sites that I frequent, I couldn't think of one where I can post this

And it actually makes me sad. But anyways, hilarious conversation between Taran Killam and Bill Lawrence:
In case you're wondering, Taran is engaged to HIMYM's Cobie Smulders and Bill Lawrence is married to Cougar Town's Christa Miller.

Don't really have a title for this post

So that's why NPH was (is?) in New York. I should have went there early Saturday morning and stayed in line and maybe get into the taping! Would have been awesome, especially if I can spot NPH there!

Oh well... Plenty of time to be stalkerish and find him!

Oh, and here's the Jason Segel/Paul Rudd thing:

No Cougar Town or Community midseason (or Six Seasons and a Movie!)

Just a few days ago it was reported that NBC is benching Community from its midseason lineup. They say it's to accomodate 30 Rock coming back, which is the good news, but NBC decided to bench Community while keeping on Whitney, a freshman comedy show that hasn't resonated well to critics or the audience. Or at least the Human Beings hate it (is that what we're calling Community fans?). If they didn't before, they do now.

Tick, Tick, Tick: A cocktail of feelings and emotions

I watched the episode twice last night, and I've had a decent 3-4 hours of sleep since then, but I'm still not sure if I'm able to piece together my thoughts and feelings in this post.

So basically it picked up the morning after last week's episode, "Disaster Averted" (7.09). If the ending of that episode reminded you of "Sandcastles In the Sand" (3.16), you could probably guess what happened in the beginning of "Tick, Tick, Tick" (7.10) (although the title still reminds me of Dexter).

Snowtober

It actually snowed, before Halloween! Here in New Brunswick, it was basically just light snow, but non-stop from Friday night until pretty much the whole day Saturday.

[The view out of my apartment window on Saturday afternoon]

I had mixed feelings about what happened. First, I was excited, because it's the first snow of the season (even though technically it's still fall), and IT SNOWED IN OCTOBER! But then I was going to a Halloween party that night and the snow didn't seem so exciting any more. And also, it was my car's first snow!

[It was at least 2-3 inches, on Sunday afternoon]

That is all. I just thought I'd document this on the Internet. Because this happened.

HIMYM 7.06 Mystery vs. History

This is just a little rant because I just watched the episode and was quite disappointed with something. I was going to just tweet about it instead of writing a blog post, but it's pretty hard to explain myself in 140 characters or less. So here it goes...

My first Con!

I went to the New York Comic Con yesterday and it was amazing! We weren't there long. Arrived at around 2 p.m. and left by 8.30 p.m. because we were tired. Sleeping more than 3 hours the previous night would have helped. But it doesn't matter; it was so freaking exciting just to be there!

Walking out of Port Authority in New York City, I already felt it. You'd see A LOT of people wearing graphic t-shirts, mostly of superheroes, and with their Comic Con passes around their necks. I got excited just seeing that.

Once we got to the venue though, the first thing I noticed was how crowded it was. The second thing was, all the cosplayers, and how amazing their costumes were! I should have taken pictures. These people are just awesome. I was too scared to drain my iPhone's battery that I kept it in my pocket most of the time. And now I'm regretting it. Anyways...

I know I'm not the biggest comic books/anime/video games fan, and I wish I was, but it was such an amazing atmosphere that I just loved being there. Walked around the booths, and then went to the autographing tables where we met Jewel Staite, Felicia Day and Sandeep Parikh. :)

RIP Steve Jobs

:'( A sad, sad day indeed. Apple co-founder Steve Jobs has passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was only 56 years old.

[Apple.com home page]

He's touched our lives in many ways; and his brilliance will be among us for generations to come. A true visionary and genius. RIP, Mr. Jobs! Thanks for all the iThings. They have certainly changed the world, especially mine. Thanks for Apple, thanks for Pixar, and thanks for being just awesome!

TBBT vs Community

This is why Twitter is awesome. So it started with @joelmchale promoting Community's premiere by joking about their competitions.

Happy Programmers' Day!

I did not know that this day exists! Apparently it's celebrated on the 256th (0x100th) day of the year, which falls on September 13th on common years, and September 12th on leap years. Found out about this because today, at work, we had an event that was partly to celebrate it. They thanked us developers for what we do (which is really nice) and gave us presents:

[Just a few bug-shaped chocolates and a bug]

Their theme was making bugs sweet for us for today. Couldn't remember the exact wording but I thought it was funny.

Had the strangest dream...

OK, yeah, that might be an exaggeration because well, most dreams are strange. But it was so vivid that I remembered and could replay most of it when I woke up...

It started with me in my home town, Surabaya, driving to get back home. My grandmother was in the car with me but she was incredibly talkative, so unlike her. The traffic was insane and we weren't moving anywhere. My grandmother's non-stop questions about everything started to annoy me so I pulled over to this bus stop (which is weird cos you won't find anything like that in Surabaya) and we got out of the car. Suddenly, the car is gone and we waited for a bus that'd take me home. That would have been the first and only time I rode a bus in Surabaya! Anyways, it was a huge bus stop so most of the buses in the city stop there (apparently) and my grandmother said that she didn't want to go home; she wanted to go to this town that I've never heard of, that's (supposedly) not too far from our city. She kept saying that she could just take this one bus somewhere and transit to another at some point and eventually she'll get there. I was confused; because, for some reason, I just HAD to go home, and I can't just leave her by herself. I dragged her (gently, of course) away from the bus stop walking towards home and suddenly, she was gone....

[cut scene to an old looking building, no where near any city]

Maroon 5 at Susquehanna Bank Center

I went to a Maroon 5 concert last month [^.^] and I finally got around to checking the photos/videos on my iPhone. And yes, I do realize that I am that douche who goes to a concert and watches the show from my iPhone screen instead. Couldn't help it though!

Videos are uploaded on my YouTube channel:

Going through pictures to see if I took any good ones. Taking videos/pictures with the biggest urge to dance is not easy.

Shopping at Target

Right before Irene hit New Jersey. I think people went a little overboard there...

Justin at Irving Plaza

I shall be there next time he's performing. Actually, that's not true; I can't go to his Justin and Friends concert. :[ but I WILL BE THERE SOMEDAY!!!

It's National 901 Day!

Justin celebrated it by performing at his New York restaurant, Southern Hospitality, last night for free and again tonight 9/01 at 9:01 p.m., at Irving Plaza. This is just another reason why I should be living in NYC. I would so go around and look for and then stalk J if I could! Here's hoping decent quality videos would pop up somewhere!

Steve Jobs steps down as Apple's Chief Executive

This is definitely not the most surprising news, but it still saddens me. The man had a vision and a belief, and he built something around it. Something big. Something great. And people followed. ;]

I still remember my first Apple product: an iPod Mini back in 2004. Followed by a MacBook in 2006, and then an iPhone in 2007. I am a fan because, as Steve would say, "it just works." All their products are very simple to use yet amazing. They're easy to use and to maintain. My almost-5-year-old MacBook still works perfectly fine (even though I am looking for an upgrade to a 27" iMac some time in the next month). All of the Apple products that I've owned have helped me to a different level of appreciation towards gadgets.

He's still a director at Apple but he surely will be missed. Whoever it is appointed as Jobs' successor has huge shoes to fill.

Most of all, I'll miss Steve's presentations at WWDC.

This piece about Mr. Jobs at TechCrunch is simply beautiful.

Felt my first earthquake

It was yesterday, some time in the afternoon, while I was sitting at my cubicle at work. I've never felt an earthquake before so I didn't know what it was, until someone mentioned that it might be an earthquake. Well if it is, Twitter would know! That was my immediate thought. So I checked Twitter. Sure enough, basically everyone on the east coast was talking about it! Apparently it was a 5.8 that started in Virginia and spread through the whole east coast! It was quite exciting, I have to say. May be a strange thing for someone to say experiencing an earthquake, but it was my first one and nothing bad happened, so excited I was! :P

Learning vs. Studying

I'm a big fan of learning. I love it. There are just so many interesting things that we can learn at any moment in our lives. That's why I'm so quiet, I think. Well that, and the fact that I'm incredibly (and stupidly) shy and self-conscious. Do you know how much you can learn just by listening and observing? What can I say, I'm a lurker by heart.

On the other hand, studying, not loving it as much. As many of my friends would attest, I really can't be much lazier. I just hate studying.

What's the difference between learning and studying? Well in my opinion, studying is the act of searching for information that you can learn. You know, as in sitting there reading textbooks for an exam. While learning is simply the passive act of acquiring said information. Like sitting there listening to someone talking and you learn lots of things about that person. Or I guess whatever/whoever the person's talking about.

So, yeah, love learning, hate studying. I'm just that lazy.

Goodbye to the Maestro

[A/N: There are just too many things I feel like I should blog about but I think that I probably end up doing only one of them. Figured I should start with the most important one.]

Paul Scholes bade his farewell to Old Trafford on Friday. The sold out Old Trafford just shows how much respect the fans have for him.

The current Manchester United team played the New York Cosmos. From what I gathered from the commentary, the Cosmos used to be a glamorous club in the 70s/80s and dominated the MLS. Somehow they folded and Pele is involved and now Eric Cantona is their technical director. It's pretty amazing having The King Eric back at Old Trafford. The Cosmos doesn't actually have a senior team yet – they're trying to build a brand around the name, and then build the team around that brand – therefore, they fielded a few of their under-23 players and then added some current or former stars, including Nicky Butt and Gary Neville.

Okay, back to the main man, The Maestro, The Ginger Prince, Sat Nav, the man, the legend, Mr. Paul Scholes. I've been in denial since his retirement announcement that I will never watch him play again. He is definitely gonna be missed.

Realization

I am currently at work, bored out of my mind. One whole day and all I was assigned to do was play around with the HTML/CSS of the mobile app so that it looks somewhat presentable. There are only four screens total as of now and there's really not that much on them due to the screen size. So yeah. Basically, since about an hour before lunch, I've been doing nothing. Improved the look a tiny bit here and there and then just derp around.

Then I started day dreaming. Because, what else would I do? I already promised myself that I won't reddit at work!

This thought crossed my mind, that I totally buy into the "my dad is a superhero" thing. (Yes, this post is just about another random thought, but I am THAT bored!)

I finally did it!

I've been thinking about doing a clean install on my Mac for quite a while now because I feel like it's too cluttered and I was running out of disk space. I do feel like I'm too attached to this laptop and if I do erase everything, I'd be losing a little piece of me. Yeah, it's sad. I'm so dependent on it that I think cleaning everything up would actually be good for me. I do have two backups on separate harddrives of my MacBook so really, I'm not gonna lose much! But still I was so nervous when I clicked "erase" on Disk Utility. But I did it.

I planned on doing a Lion clean install but upon Googling, I found that it wasn't possible without having a bootable USB Lion installer. And I don't have the 8GB USB drive that's required to create one. So I just erased my drive and re-installed Snow Leopard, before upgrading to Lion. The process was fine; it took a couple hours with practically no problems. I do like this feeling I get when it's empty. It's like a brand new computer but not really.

Anyways, welcome, Lion!

The first things I installed after doing the clean install: Google Chrome, VLC Player, Twitter, Microsoft Office. I'm trying to not install as much crap as I probably would, but I do miss having my games and songs and all the crap!!

A random thought

I was just thinking about how eventful this past month and a half has been for me (graduating college, getting my first car, moving into my own apartment, starting my first job and getting my first paycheck) and suddenly a thought occurred to me: DOES THIS MEAN I'M A GROWNUP NOW?!

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

So...

Haven't posted in a while, but I've had A LOT going on lately!

Mid-May, I graduated from college, then my parents bought me my first car. And then I got my driver's license. Then I went with my family on a 10-day trip to California for my brother's graduation, and also for my last summer break probably ever. Then I got back and about a week later, I started my first job! The Friday of that week, I moved into my apartment. So yeah, that's what have been up with me lately.

Sunday, June 26, 2011

I am happy. And incredibly nervous.

Why I'm happy: I booked a hotel from hotwire.com; it was one of those "can't show you the hotel's name but you'll love it" type of thing. I just saw that it was a suite, offers complimentary breakfast and wifi, and it's only $61/night (it was $59/night when I checked a day earlier). It says that it's a 3-star hotel and that 85% of hotwire customers recommends it. So I wasn't expecting too much, but when I got here, I thought, 'well the hotel looks kinda nice from outside.' The lobby didn't look too great; it seems old. The receptionist wasn't too friendly either, but we checked in at 9 p.m. and I was tired so I didn't care. But then I went up to the room. And it's huge. It's a two bedroom suite! It has a nice sitting area and a fully equipped kitchen. I'm only staying for 3 days (or longer if I still can't move in to my apartment -.- ) but I have to say, this is pretty damn awesome! Such a great deal!

Why I'm nervous: tomorrow is the first day of work! And I just realized that I know freaking nothing about work! I don't know what I should wear, I don't know what I should bring, I don't even know what time I'm supposed to get there! I'm assuming 9 a.m.? Do I bring my laptop? What does business casual mean? Maybe this is a little to late to start thinking about all this but ARGH!!!! What the fuck should I do?!

Saturday, June 25, 2011

Good job, New York!

They've finally legalized gay marriage! Pretty historic event. Happened yesterday, just a couple hours after I've left the city. So I'm assuming the voting process was happening when I was walking around Manhattan.

NPH on Conan

How could anyone not love this guy?! So.freaking.adorable!!

My last summer vacation (possibly) ever

So we finally got back from our trip to California last night. It was great, spending time with my family again. I don't know what's different but when my dad left to go back home a day before we had to leave LA, I missed him way much more than I usually do. I guess I felt like I won't be able to see him – or any of them after they've left – for some time now that I have to start working soon and get practically no breaks. This is the first summer I've spent here. I don't really know when I'd be able to go back home. Hopefully by next Christmas. I haven't spent Christmas with my family since freshman year and I really miss it.

Back to the trip itself...

Our main reason for going there was for Koko's graduation (I actually graduated about a month before my older brother's :\ ). It rained during my graduation. It wasn't too bad; it didn't rain for long, but it rained. This time, for Koko's it was sunny and incredibly hot! We were sweating even before it started! It was good. It was short. A lot shorter than Rutgers'. They didn't even have a speaker! A lot of his friends showed up so it was nice. Took lots and lots of pictures then went out for dinner, inviting his friends. Only 4 (including his girlfriend) could come and I know two of them because they went to my high school, Andrew and Michelle.

The rest of the trip was pretty nice, too. Went to Disneyland, then took a trip up north to Pebble Beach, Monterey, and the surrounding areas.

Now I'm back and summer break is basically over on the first day of summer. I have to take care of moving to the apartment, obtaining SSN, all that other stuff... (my car's plate and registration is not here yet!)

I'm gonna start working on Monday and I'm definitely not ready for that chapter of my life. Everything's changing, it feels like. I don't know what I'm supposed to do to prepare for it. I'm scared, that's for sure. From now on it's just me on my own. Let's just hope I'm doing this right...

Waiting for iOS 5

I'm quite excited for the notifications fix.

Nice interview with Neil

The interview is here.

Tiny exerpt:
So no Dr. Horrible?
Joss [Whedon] is doing the Avengers movie and he’s going to be in that world for another half a year, and by that time we’re all back on our shows. Hopefully, it’ll come together some day. Pray for another writers’ strike.
I hated it when the writers' strike happened because all the TV shows were cut short, but if that's what it takes to get a Dr. Horrible sequel, I really wouldn't mind a TV season get cut!

*NSYNC is trending!!!

And I have no idea why!!! Why?! Why???!!! Please, someone, anyone, tell me why?!!

WWDC 2011

So, every year, all Apple fans (and other tech enthusiasts) like me would sit and wait and listen to Apple and see what they've done this past year. WWDC happened earlier today and I have to say I was quite excited about it. I'm currently watching the video that's available here. Big cheers for Mr. Steve Jobs who was the first to take the stage. (Please don't ever leave us, Mr. Jobs! Gosh, he's lost A LOT of weight.)

Today they talked about OSX Lion, iOS 5, and iCloud.

Critics Choice Awards nominations

Yay for Community!!! The show is nominated for Best Comedy Series while Joel McHale and Danny Pudi are nominated for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor (respectively) in Comedy Series. About time the show and the actors are recognized at award shows!

Bad Teacher is coming soon!!

So excited! Press tour has started, here's the first interview I found (and it's pretty damn hilarious):

Love Justin and Jason together and LOVE Justin singing!! <3

Goodbye, Scholesy!

Thought you'd help us win #20, Scholesy! :(

And we must bade the ginger prince goodbye. Paul Scholes announced his retirement earlier today, and this kind of news is not something I'd like to wake up to! It was all over Twitter when I checked it after waking up. I really believed that he would go on for another year. Just like Edwin van der Sar, I feel like they still have a couple of good years left in them, it's just a shame that we'd never get to see them play anymore.

In any case, I'm very glad that he's staying at Old Trafford as a coach. He's the best midfielder in his generation and players would definitely benefit of learning things from him, or even just having him around during practice.

One thing for sure, I will definitely, without a doubt, miss seeing him on the pitch. I absolutely LOVE his pinpoint passes. His scorchers are simply awe-inspiring. And how could you not smile at his tackles? I've been watching quite a few Paul Scholes tribute videos today and I'm still awed by his skills.

A few days old, but...

On the train to London, there was a table full of legends.

Too much greatness in too small a space

Goodbye! :'(

We will miss you so very much. I'm sorry we couldn't give you a better send off. Thanks for all services rendered.

This is what heartbreak feels like...

"Have you ever had your heart broken?" "If I have to think about it, then I guess the answer is no."

And today, I feel like I've felt it.

[Iniesta got Scholesy's jersey?! Lucky bastard.]

Barcelona 3-1 Manchester United

Congrats, Barca! Job well done. Best team in the world; no other team even comes close! We were outplayed and outclassed throughout all 90 minutes, although Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic showed good tackling inside the box. But honestly, the better team won and I can't really complain.

Thursday, May 26, 2011

Congrats Berba! :)

(yes, I'm ignoring the fact that he's sharing this award with...some player)

Read it on reddit.

12 Offices of Famous Companies

In our days, companies are still trying to get more and more distinctive in people’s mind. Although the main difference is made through the brands they create, the important companies are beginning to use their corporate identity as part of the big competition. And a major role in a business’s identity is represented by the look of their offices, the place where everything happens.
The more distinguishing the headquarters are, the more interesting the company becomes for the large public and the more appealing it turns out to be for the potential employees. Here are some of the greatest architectural examples ever created to host a company’s office.

And that's 19!

This is a great year for United, with the Academy also winning the FA Youth Cup. This is very exciting because winning the FAYC, in our history, usually means great years ahead for our first team, with the injection of talented youngsters. They are a talented bunch but I can't say for sure how many of them would actually make it into the first team. But anyways, here are some pictures of the celebration:

TimberGaga for SNL finale!

I just LOVED it! Perfect finale. I haven't watched much of SNL this season but everything I've read say that this is the best SNL episode of the season, by far. I was a little disappointed that most of the sketches, save one or two, were recycled materials. Yes, they were great sketches and they worked and they're still funny, but I was hoping to see new ones!

19!

It wasn't the best performance, but we did what we needed to do. We needed a point and a point we got. We've knocked Liverpool off of their fucking perch!

[They've won it 12 times]

**** NJ MVC!

Okay, first of all, I understand that it's kinda my fault I didn't apply for a driving license earlier; it might make it a lot easier. But still!

Warning: this is a rant. About NJ's MVC. Don't bother reading this!

So here it goes...

Sunday, May 8, 2011

We are so close to #19!!!

Class performance by the team from beginning to end. Sir Alex really outfoxed Carlo on this one! Amazing, early goal from Chicharito. And then Giggs' cross was met by unmarked Vidic to make it 2-0, all before half time. We had quite a few decisions that didn't go our way, which would completely changed the game: Ivanovic should have been sent off somewhere in the middle of the first half, somehow he managed to finish the game; 2 penalty calls denied, one of them was a clear handball by Lampard. But it doesn't matter, because we're Manchester United and we are the champions! Well, we're THIS close.
[Brilliant banner at Old Trafford]

One more point from the remaining two games (or any dropped points by Chelsea) and 19th will be ours. I'm so fucking excited right now!!

Community: A Fistful of Paintballs

[NOTE: I know I said my 1,000th post will be about my graduation but I just can't ignore the awesomeness that is Community. At least for right now, this is bigger than just a celebration of me not failing college.]

Anyways, I just can't express how much I love "A Fistful of Paintballs" through words. It was a highly anticipated episode and it delivered. "Modern Warfare" was definitely the best episode of season 1, so when they said they were gonna do another paintball episode, they know it has to be good. It has to be really, really good. And they did it. I love the Western theme, making it a completely different episode.

3rd final in 4 years!

I am proud to be a United fan! Granted, it was somewhat an easy win over both legs; easiest Semifinal match I've seen in a while. Fergie gambled with a second string team, keeping one eye on Sunday's important match. I wasn't as worried as some people were; with our first choice team we basically dominated the away game. Now with a 2 away goals, playing at Old Trafford, we don't have to do nearly as much. It was an easy game overall. Not as dominant as we were in the first leg but we were in control.

[Sir Alex Ferguson celebrating reaching the final]
3 finals in 4 years speak a lot of the team. And especially for Sir Alex Ferguson who keeps on building team after team for the club. Yes, Barca will be a tough opponent; they have an amazing team at the moment. But they are also cheating bastards and I just hate them so much because of that. With the level of talent that they have, they can play football without being...what they are right now. It's a disgrace to the sport! It's tough, but we are Manchester United and we can do it! B.E.L.I.E.V.E!!!

Final day of classes!

Today is my last day of classes here at Rutgers. I have Women, Culture, Society and OS lecture. I can't believe this is it, the end of 4 years! I'm so not ready for "the next chapter" but it seems like I have no choice.

And today I'm submitting my final paper ever as an undergraduate student, a manifesto for Women, Culture, Society:

Sir Bobby Charlton Tribute - Forever A Babe

At around 7:12, VDS blocked Anelka's penalty for the 2008 Champions League win, I've never seen Sir Bobby Charlton celebrate like that. Love it. I really hope we win this year and see him as delighted again.

Tina Fey: Authors@Google

Google's Eric Schmidt interviewing Tina Fey, that itself has got to be comedy! She's hilarious as always.

Wil bought Pokémon Black. Now I want one.

I walked around them, went to the DS games, and felt like a teenager buying his first box of condoms. I felt my face get warm, I caught myself looking around to ensure I wasn't being watched, and I reached for the nearest copy of Pokémon Black Version.

I turned it over in my hand and read the back. "I can't believe I'm actually going to do this," I thought. "I'm 38 years-old, and I'm buying Pokémon for the first time in my life."

The Avengers starts shooting tomorrow!

Joss said so himself on Whedonesque:

Hi Pumpkins, joss here.

Tomorrow we start shooting (I THINK I'm legally permitted to say that). Day one. That's right. We'll be shooting the pivotal death/betrayal/product placement/setting up the sequel/coming out scene, at the following address:

[Marvel Lawyers rush in, take Joss's keyboard, blowtorch a picture of his family like in "Stormy Monday", drink his milkshake, leave the seat up, fluff his pillows, violently unfluff his pillows, leave]

Went too far. My bad. Anyhoo, it should be a fun day, followed by the eighty thousand other fun days it will take to finish this. I'll be checking in from time to time, if there's news or I crave attention (i.e. am awake) . None of it will be Avengers news -- I have some very denty pillows to remind of that -- but I may have tidbits. (They're not about Firefly. I should say that up front, if only to protect Sis Mo from the HATORZ.)

Some of you may be saying, Joss! Why this link, here, now, why, huh, howcum? My friend Allyx turned me on to these guys, and I'll tell you, they've gotten me through this intensely pressurized, preply time. I strongly recommend checking out their other vids -- I've watched them many many times, and I have a very special place for "Teamwork" in my heart. These guys are the guys. And IS there a better movie title than "Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses"? I thought not.

So wish me luck. DO IT! LUCK! NOW! I'm off to finish some Buffy pages, and then figure out what the movie is about already. I'm pretty sure it's about the Justice League [Marvel Lawyers re-enter, unspeakability occurs] or possibly something else. I'll get it. I've been looking forward to this. For about 46 years.

Catchphrase!

This guy is hilarious! Good luck, Joss! Hope The Avengers turn out great!!

A nice article on Edwin's retirement

One April afternoon in 1991, Ajax Amsterdam’s goalkeeper, Stanley Menzo, limped off injured. When his replacement bounded on, you wanted to laugh. The 20-year-old Edwin van der Sar was big-eared, rail thin and dressed entirely in purple with tiny shorts. By way of warming up, he literally skipped around the penalty area. He looked like a particularly camp gymnast. Then he began to keep. Twenty years on, as Manchester United’s keeper prepares to retire next month, he has redefined his profession.

Loved tonight's Community!

And I'm not the only one:
[From @MichaelAusiello]

Community has been really strong this year, and this episode might be my favorite. Although the finale might be pretty damn awesome (Modern Warfare II!!). But this one was definitely my favorite thus far! Seriously, this show must be nominated or win some awards this year and next year! Best comedy on TV this season!
