No Cougar Town or Community midseason (or Six Seasons and a Movie!)

Just a few days ago it was reported that NBC is benching Community from its midseason lineup. They say it's to accomodate 30 Rock coming back, which is the good news, but NBC decided to bench Community while keeping on Whitney, a freshman comedy show that hasn't resonated well to critics or the audience. Or at least the Human Beings hate it (is that what we're calling Community fans?). If they didn't before, they do now.

I don't understand the hate towards Whitney or whatever show is on NBC or other networks, because really, how is it their fault at all? It's all NBC execs' and their scheduling people's (okay, I know nothing about the TV industry) fault! Sure, Community doesn't have the best ratings, but that's true for pretty much any NBC show! It's critically acclaimed (by critics but not award shows' voters unfortunately), and the fans passionately love the show, AND it's still getting better.

I've been pretty optimistic so far and really believe that NBC wouldn't actually cancel the show; unlike *many* people who launched some type of "Save Community" campaign immediately upon hearing the news. But if NBC really cancels the show, I'm gonna boycott the network and not watch any of their shows on TV! (torrent ALL the things!)

But even in times like this, I can count on the people of Community to make me smile:

Another good news, they will continue production and air all remaining episodes of the season. Six seasons and a movie!

But a few hours ago, it's reported that ABC has pushed back in airing Cougar Town to March, and cutting down the number of episodes from 22 to 15ಠ_ಠ Seriously?!

I don't even know how to react to be able to rant here. So, I just stole from Bill Lawrence's Twitter:

But this is what I'm most excited about, and pretty much the only good news on Cougar Town so far:

Sure Cougar Town is unfortunately stuck with its title, but – like Community – it's a show that's getting stronger. Season 2 was solid and had a great ending and now we can't see what happens next until March?! NBC and ABC, if you're planning on knocking down CBS from the top spot, I don't think you're doing it right.
