Fergie waits on Hargreaves

Sir Alex Ferguson is playing a 'wait and see' game as regards Owen Hargreaves' potential impact on Manchester United's run in.

The holding midfielder lasted just 10 minutes of his seasonal reappearance in November in the 2-1 win over Wolves, when he picked up a hamstring injury.

The 30-year-old was making his first start in over two years following surgery on both knees to cure a serious tendinitis problem.

After the latest injury, Hargreaves, who signed from Bayern Munich in 2007, returned to Germany for treatment but is now set to restart training on Monday.

But Ferguson does not know if he will be able to make an impact for the Red Devils at the business end of this season.

I really hope he'd be back before the end of the season and with some miracle get a contract extension for another year. He's too good a player to go out like this!

On other United news, welcome back Tony! Antonio Valencia who was out for 6 months after the horrifying ankle injury was on the subs bench for the FA Cup quarter final match against Arsenal last Saturday, to the surprise of the fans. Valencia was brought on at half time replacing goal scorer Fabio. In the first few minutes he looked different; he didn't cross the ball as quickly as he used to and held it up instead. However, he was soon back in the game and really changed the team to the better. He created chances, delivered quite a few great crosses, and ran up and down the right wing like he was just out a couple games! I wasn't even expecting him on the lineup, but he surprised all of us with how well he did!
