TWoP 10: Biggest Golden Globe and SAG Award Snubs

Fuck yeah Community!
This week kicked off the start of awards season with nominations being announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for their Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild for their SAG Awards. And while there were some shockers in the television categories (Piper Perabo?! Hot in Cleveland?!!), there were also a lot of old standbys, meaning that many deserving shows and actors got left out in the cold. Here are the most egregious snubs from both awards bodies:

1. Community
It seems impossible that this consistently funny network comedy is invisible to the voters. It has one of the best ensemble casts in comedy and not one of them was nominated. We know it is way easier to just keep checking off 30 Rock and The Office on the ballots, but sometimes we wish voters actually made an effort to watch a season from start to finish. From the paintball to the tent city to the zombie Halloween to the awesome stop-motion Christmas special, Community has something for everyone... except, apparently, fans of Hot in Cleveland.

Spoiler Chat stuff

From today's E!Online's Spoiler Chat:
Duncan: White Collar?
Look for Tim DeKay to sport a fabulous mustache when White Collar returns in January. Why, you ask? Well, says DeKay himself, "That's a flashback episode where Peter wore a mustache for a few months...I did get to ride a horse, which is fun. You'll learn how Peter and Neal (Matthew Bomer) met, you'll learn more about what's behind the music box and who's pulling all the string—what the music box opens up and what you see and what comes about from that, it's pretty awesome. It's priceless.

Keenan: Psych?
Dulé Hill tells us, "We have Aggie the Polar Bear [coming up]. And then we have the season finale, which is the return of the Yin-Yang trilogy. We have Ally Sheedy, Mena Suvari and then we find out who Mr. Yin is. I can't tell you that." Forget Mr. Yin, we want to know more about this polar-bear business! For the record, Dulé's partner-in-crimesolving James Roday teases, "Shawn and Gus have to save a polar bear, which may or may not be framed for murder." Comedy. Gold.

Classic Man Utd vs Arsenal

Building up to tomorrow's game, Goal.com posted their list of 10 classic United - Arsenal rivalry. I sure do miss those days, those intense games, Roy Keane... I am hoping for a United win, a great United performance, and a great, equal, intense match. In that order.

There's no other Roy Keane but I love how the game was so intense even before it started:

I heart Community!

[Easter egg at the end of Community's "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas"]
Christmas episode, trying to find the meaning of Christmas, can be too cliche. That's totally not Community's style! So they made it stop motion animation. They changed the characters into Christmas characters: Jeff-in-the-Box, Britta Bot, Troy Soldier, BallerAnnie, Teddy Pierce and Baby Doll Shirley. The episode was all about Abed and his amazing view of the world.

I just LOVED the episode! Because it was stop motion animation. Because it was Willy Wonka themed. Because it was about Christmas. Because Community is just plain awesome. This is why people (award academies) need to realize that this show is one of the best this season! They're so unique.

Here's a nice piece about the episode:

Love this!

Even though it's kinda fake. I checked Twitter and Olivia Wilde was saying that Jon Favreau was the best director she's ever worked with, or something like that. And her reply to the "a-hem" was "you know I love you boss!" Whatever, I love the pictures, and I love these guys!! Robert Sean Leonard's "Favreau-ish" is cute (he's cute too!) and "will write Iron Man 3 for food" with a big happy face is lol-worthy! <3

Kinda surprised that Mad Men is only 10th and Grey's Anatomy is higher on the list (#7). Dexter should be higher though because I absolutely think that this season is just amazing!

Robbed: Thieves take nearly every trophy Sampras won in career
By Chris Chase

During his legendary tennis career, Pete Sampras earned dozens of trophies, medals and plaques for his on-court achievements and acquired the treasure trove of memorabilia you'd expect from one of the most famous athletes in America.

Most of it is now gone, stolen from a storage unit in which Sampras had been keeping the objects. The 14-time Grand Slam champion told Bill Dwyre of the Los Angeles Times that he discovered the theft three weeks ago.

E!'s Top 10 TV Comedies of 2010

List can be seen here.

Modern Family is at the top, which I guess can be justified; but I think Glee should definitely not be second! The show isn't even that funny. Or that good! Community and The Big Bang Theory are definitely funnier than Glee and should rank higher. But E! does love Glee for some reason...

Community = #1!!!

The Year in TV
By Emily Nussbaum Published Dec 5, 2010
A scene from Community's upcoming episode, "Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas."
It’s conventional wisdom that the antenna of a TV top ten—the selection that gets the fat print and the pretty illustration—should be a drama. It must be cinematic; it must be dark. It should almost certainly be on cable, probably with someone named David in the show-runner slot. So when I choose the network sitcom Community as No. 1, I’m not saying it doesn’t have serious competition: I couldn’t even fit Sons of Anarchy or Men of a Certain Age onto this list, each of which, were I in a different mood today, might rise right to the top. Cable still hosts the most ambitious television experiments, providing a place where oddball art can find a niche audience (and one that buys DVDs).

And yet it’s worth pointing out that smack in the middle of network, there it is: this auteurist sitcom, slamming it out of the park each week of its second season. Half-hour comedies are as potent an art form as one-hour dramas, and at the moment, the schedule is studded with great ones (Parks and Recreation, Eastbound & Down, Modern Family, Raising Hope, Bored to Death, Childrens Hospital, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and The Middle). Community is theoretically set at a community college, but it uses that conceit the way The Simpsons uses Springfield, as a jumping-off point for just about anything. The show explodes TV conventions while working within them, like the boldest meta-TV from Monty Python’s Flying Circus through 30 Rock. And it’s consistently hilarious, in large part because creator Dan Harmon has such a strong, icy grip on his characters and his idiosyncratic ideas about what’s funny. This season, Community pulled off an action-packed (and sexy) Halloween zombie episode, a self-referential riff on Charlie Kaufman–style self-referentiality, and the single best spiritual trampoline sequence ever. In a competitive environment for comedy, Community is this moment’s top dog.

Justin got injured :( production shuts down

Maybe he should stick to the funny and pass on the stunts.

After Justin Timberlake suffered a leg injury shooting his new film, Now, the studio has temporarily shut down production to give Mr. Sexyback time to get back on his feet, E! News confirms.

Here's what the production company has to say:

Community - Cast talks "Modern Warfare" Episode (Paley Center Interview)

I just love how Dan is like "don't fight for our show if we're getting canceled because we suck!"

I love these guys, I love Community.

Ryan Giggs was trending!

Well it was rumored that it was because Giggsy was said to be considering retirement, but I chose not to believe it. I mean, Ryan Giggs doesn't retire. He's just gonna play for Manchester United forever, and play like a 25 year old no matter how old he is. Right?! =/

In other United news: Owen Hargreaves is going back home to overcome his hamstring problems.

How cold is it, really?

So tomorrow's game of Blackpool vs Manchester United has been delayed due to weather conditions. Apparently it's so cold there in England that pitches are freezing. I'm kinda bummed that there's no United game this weekend but I guess that means more time for me to do other stuff. I mean, it's out of their hands, really. Look at Old Trafford:

Happy 37th birthday Giggsy!

[Recent picture of Ryan Giggs, 37 years young]

Manchester United 7-1 Blackburn

A little frustrated by AI's project, so I'm just gonna forget about it for a little bit.
It was an amazing performance by Manchester United. And we haven't seen that in a while. So I was happy about that, a perfect birthday gift from the team. However, I, like most people, decided to bench Dimitar Berbatov from my fantasy league team because he's been...insignificant in the last 10 games or so. And he went to score 5 goals. Him being a captain would have the same points as my whole team combined! Oh well, I'm not complaining. Real world way more important than fantasy league!

NSYNC IS TRENDING!

Right now, "NSYNC" is trending on Twitter, worldwide. Awesomeness!

I did love the NKOTBSB performance at the AMAs though. I just love boybands in general. But this just shows how much the world still loves (and waits for) *NSYNC! <3

Manchester United 2-1 Wolverhampton Wanderers

I watched the first half and it was so boring that I fell asleep during half time; so I don't really have much to say about that match. Seeing how terrible we were on the first half though, we need a creative player (Nani or Valencia, both injured) and someone who can control the game with his passing (ie Scholes).

But what I wanna talk about is this guy:
[Owen Hargreaves against Wolves, 11.06.10]
Sir Alex surprised everyone with the inclusion of Owen Hargreaves in the starting XI. He's been out for 2 years, made a little cameo in the middle and disappeared again. We were told that the treatment and rehabilitation for his knee injury have been completed and that he's almost fit; but a start was unexpected! But as always, after injuries that long, small little problems would come with the come back. I praise his spirit, that has gotten him this far and brought him back. But only 5 minutes into the match, his left hamstring failed him and he had to limp off the pitch. I still don't know if it's torn or just strained, but I really hope that it's not too serious and that he'll be back in the team soon. I remember his contribution to our 2007/2008 season, and he was a key figure in our winning the Champions League that season. The supporters are still here, Owen, waiting patiently for your comeback. Hopefully you're as patient as we are; we know this must be very hard on you!

Justin Timberlake, Olivia Wilde, "Now" Matt Bomer too!

Alex Pettyfer, Matt Bomer Join Justin Timberlake's 'I'm.mortal,' Renamed 'Now'
Posted 8 hrs ago by Amy Wilkinson in Casting News, Eye Candy, Movie News, Movies

And...the pretty quotient just went through the roof! It was only a month ago that we were marveling at the eye candy casting potential of Justin Timberlake and Amanda Seyfried's sci-fi flick "I'm.mortal" (which has apparently been renamed, "Now"). After all, the flick's setting is a future world in which people stop aging at 25 and must buy time in order to live forever. It's not hard to see what that means: a slew of impossibly good-looking twenty and thirty-something actors running around the set. Well, it's time to add two more attractive cast members to the credits reel: Alex Pettyfer and Matt Bomer.

JT and Friends

With all the hype around The Social Network and now his golf tournament/benefit I thought I'd post more about Justin. But the TSN interviews are boring, same questions over and over again. Andrew Garfield is adorable but it's not worth more posts. Anyways, his tournament ended in some fashion:

And then there's the concert...

Disasters in Indonesia

I have been feeling so distant from what's happening in Indo. I saw Indonesia and #prayforindonesia trending on Twitter, which is the only reason why I knew about the disasters. I haven't read much about it so I don't know the extent of the disasters, but I know that there has been a volcano eruption, an earthquake and a 10-foot tsunami.

According to CNN, the earthquake has killed 272 people with 412 still missing.

More report on what happened.

Pray for Indonesia indeed. Hoping for the best for everyone involved.

There's no such thing as too much Downey!

Is Robert Downey Jr. the Busiest Man in Hollywood?
Wed., Oct. 20, 2010 2:01 PM PDT by
Robert Downey Jr.
[credit: AP Photo/Matt Sayles]
No one can accuse Robert Downey Jr. of resting on his laurels. Or anything else, for that matter.

It's just been announced that the actor will be producing, and may even star in, a film adaptation of Neil Strauss' nonfiction work Emergency!: This Book Will Save Your Life, which, according to Variety, is about "one man's journey on how to stay alive and protect his loved ones by learning to survive in the wild."

RDJ Playboy interview

If you were to write a script about a guy who had it all, lost it all and then redeemed himself in a miraculous fashion, you could do no better than to steal from the bio of Robert Downey Jr.

Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s it was hard to find an actor who showed more promise or talent. Films such as Less Than Zero, Chaplin and Natural Born Killers established him as a star on the rise; he was even nominated for a best actor Oscar for Chaplin, in 1993. While he continued to work, his performances got less coverage than his drug problems. He was in and out of rehab, gave brutally honest self-incriminating interviews (including one to PLAYBOY in 1997), was arrested on various drug, gun and trespassing charges and spent a year in prison. He became the poster child for a misspent life.

But Downey was still young. It took him five years to get clean and slightly longer to rebuild his promising career. Things started turning around with a little-seen film called The Singing Detective (Mel Gibson famously posted a personal bond for the uninsurable actor), but to show he was truly back, Downey needed a blockbuster. He landed three: Iron Man, Sherlock Holmes and Tropic Thunder , which earned him another Oscar nomination. Suddenly Downey found himself in the company of such bankable stars as Will Smith, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio. Of course, they had achieved success while young. When Downey broke through in Iron Man he was 43 and had already made 57 films. It’s a trajectory no other actor can match.

Now 45, Downey is filming a sequel to Sherlock Holmes and has started a production company called Team Downey with his wife, Susan. Sure, the name is corny, but it fits them. A seasoned film executive who became involved with Downey during his dark days while filming Gothika and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Susan was integral to his personal and professional resurgence. They married in 2005—Billy Joel and Sting sang at the wedding—and she produces all his films.

Downey next stars in Due Date, a raucous road-trip film with the star (Zach Galifianakis) and director (Todd Phillips) of The Hangover. Downey plays an uptight architect who rushes home for the birth of his first child. Circumstances leave him in a car driven by a wannabe actor (Galifianakis) with a spectacular lack of self-awareness and a masturbating dog.

“Actors who’ve been around bring baggage that leaves the audience with their arms folded, saying, ‘Show me,’” Phillips says. “Robert has baggage, but the audience has always greeted him with open arms. He’d been this simmering talent, and during that period he gained the respect of so many of us just waiting for an Iron Man or a Tropic Thunder to see it fully realized. I love this guy more than any actor I’ve ever worked with. He made me a better director, and he is literally the greatest talent I’ve ever come across.”

We sent Michael Fleming to Team Downey’s offices in Venice, California just before Downey jetted to London. Fleming reports: “Downey has changed a lot since I first interviewed him in 1997. He doesn’t shy from the past but won’t let you dwell on what is becoming a footnote in a remarkable life. Unchanged are his electric wit and sense of mischief. We started in the bright afternoon sun so Downey could get a tan to show off on the Sherlock Holmes 2 set.”

Chris turned 39 yesterday, almost at the big one! I feel...old.. :p That tweet, by the way, got a whole new meaning when I found out that Eminem shares the same birthday!! Happy birthday to the both of you.

I'm.mortal = Now

"The Big Bang Theory" star Johnny Galecki is in final negotiations to play Justin Timberlake's best friend in Andrew Niccol's newly-retitled sci-fi thriller "Now," according to the Hollywood Reporter.

20th Century Fox is distributing the New Regency project (formerly known as "I'm.mortal"), which is set in a society where aging stops at 25 and time has become the currency. The rich are immortal, while the rest struggle to stay alive.

Timberlake stars as a rebel from the ghetto who is falsely accused of murdering a wealthy man for his time. He's forced to go on the run with a beautiful hostage (Amanda Seyfried), and together they battle the system as they struggle to stay alive.

Movie review: The Social Network

I finally got to watch The Social Network on Friday and I thought it was brilliant! It was engaging and intriguing from start to finish. The opening scene with the exchange between Jesse Eisenberg's Mark Zuckerberg and Rooney Mara's Erica pulled the viewers' attention right away. From then on, you wouldn't want to miss a single second or you would miss a lot.

Rutgers 23-20 Army (OT)

Rutgers came back from trailing 17-3 at halftime to win over the Army Black Knights 23-20 in the first overtime. 14 points behind at halftime and a scoreless third quarter, Rutgers came fighting in the fourth quarter and climbed back to level the score and send the game into extra time. Running back Joe Martinek finally seals the win for The Scarlet Knights with a one-yard carry. It would be awesome to have been there during the fourth quarter! Great job, Rutgers!

Hargreaves wait continues

Owen Hargreaves will not line up against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday, contrary to reports in the media earlier this week.

Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed the midfielder has picked up a calf injury and is not available for selection.

“Owen’s not ready. He’s injured,” Sir Alex said. “He got a calf injury and has missed training for the last few days.”

The news contradicts reports from across the Atlantic that suggested Hargreaves was set to make his first senior start since September 2008. Dr Richard Steadman, who has overseen part of Hargreaves’ rehabilitation, was quoted this week as saying: “Owen should play some part on Saturday.”

But Sir Alex insists the statement is “not accurate”.

Joey on The Baub Show

I love his interviews because the guy is friends with *NSYNC and were on their tours and stuff so he knows a lot of stories. So when the guys from *NSYNC are interviewed by him, they're more candid and relaxed. One story I absolutely love, though:

Around the 1:19:00 mark, Joey told us that about a month ago Chris and he were in LA, so they called up the other guys. Unfortunately, Justin was in the middle of shooting a movie and wouldn't be done until 3 a.m. or something like that. But the other 4 actually got together and hung out, and texting J along the say. It was the first time four of them got together since...the end of *NSYNC (I have to say it hurts to type that).

I just love it.

Also, they said that one big that that changed, was that JC actually picked up the bill! LOL! Funny!!

Plus, I learned that I'm not the only one who thinks Lance got hot after coming out! :P

I thought it was brilliant!

30 Rock Live: Seinfeld Money Buys a Lot of Laughs

The reason why Jack Donaghy thought everything looked "like a Mexican soap opera" tonight?

30 Rock had gone live, of course!

The dual broadcasts—one East Coast, one West—actually resembled Saturday Night Live, complete with surprise cameos, silly commercials and the closing thank-yous, more than they did a telenovela, however.

But commercials for an album of love songs to combat erectile dysfunction, as sung by Dr. Spaceman, and criminal-hand-transplant awareness, featuring Jon Hamm, were far funnier than what SNL's been dishing out these days.

We swear on our mother's grape!

Courteney Cox and David Arquette Split Up

This is sad news, indeed. I thought these two are an awesome pair. She seems so organized and he's so...crazy! In a good way! But then again, during the last Courteney interview that I watched, she did sound like she had enough with his insanity. :( I'm just gonna wish the best to the both of them and Coco too!
Courteney Cox, David Arquette
Courteney Cox has time-shares these days in both Cougar Town and Splitsville.

The actress and David Arquette have separated after 11 years of marriage, E! News confirmed Monday. They have one daughter, 6-year-old Coco.

"We have agreed to a trial separation that dates back for some time," the duo said in a statement. "The reason for this separation is to better understand ourselves and the qualities we need in a partner and for our marriage. We remain best friends and responsible parents to our daughter and we still love each other deeply. As we go though this process we are determined to use kindness and understanding to get through this together."

'30 Rock' Scoop: Matt Damon joins live episode!

"30 Rock"‘s live episode is turning into quite the A-List affair. Sources confirm that Matt Damon is set to reprise his role as Tina Fey’s emotionally raw pilot beau in this Thursday’s live outing.

An NBC spokesperson declined to comment.

Damon joins a guest roster that also includes "Man Men"‘s Jon Hamm and "30 Rock"‘s Cheyenne Jackson.

Details of the episode’s plot are being kept under wraps, but I’m told it will revolve around a taping of "TGS".
Was already excited about this, now with both Matt Damon AND Jon Hamm?! Love!

HOT! That's all I'm gonna say about this.

BBC Radio 1 Interview

with Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake for The Social Network. It's a cute interview. Andrew is adorable and, you know, I just love Justin...

I knew the answers to all the Justin questions! xD These guys are adorable!!

Damn it...

Soooo... stupid me decided to download Grey's Anatomy after finishing my House marathon, when I have 2 projects, 1 homework and 2 exams due in the next 2 weeks. Spent about a week watching all of them, skipped most of the parts (except for Mer/Der) and loved, and I mean LOVED, when Derek became Chief of Surgery, wearing those sky blue shirts instead of scrubs. He's so hot!! Plus he has shorter hair during those episodes. Love the hair. The power too and the slight extra cockiness. Chief Shepherd is just hot!

Currently re-watching season 6, because that's when Derek is chief, and loving how now Derek, Mark and Owen are hanging out at the chief's office. Loving the episode, loving all the hotness, hating my wasting time. I only have 3-4 more days until my projects are due and I basically haven't started yet. I don't even know what I'm supposed to do! But I can't help myself. Dr. Derek Shepherd as Chief of Surgery. Can't stop....
