That was quite a surprise! All the talks have been that Conan is going to Fox. I thought they were just waiting for Conan's release clause to end (something about no contract talks for a few months) and he'll be going to Fox. Guess not! (Rumor is Fox affiliates are not exactly set on the idea of having Conan on their network at 11).A statement from Conan:
In three months I've gone from network television to Twitter to performing live in theater, and now I'm headed to basic cable. My plan is working perfectly.
Conan's show will air on TBS at 11 p.m. starting in November, pushing Lopez Tonight back to midnight. Kinda ironic, isn't it, that CoCo ends up pushing another late show back to midnight? But I heard that George Lopez actually personally called Conan to ask him to be his lead-in. Conan is currently kicking off his "Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television" tour tonight in Oregon.
