Tottenham Hotspurs 1-3 Manchester United

[The traveling fans celebrating Rooney's goal]

Tottenham Hotspurs had the perfect start of this Premier League campaign prior to this match. And it looked like they were continuing their run when Jermain Defoe scored after only 50 seconds of the game. But once again Manchester United pulled from behind to beat Spurs. The equalizer was a freekick from Ryan Giggs in the 25th minute. The second goal came in the 41st minute, and was Anderson's first goal in a competitive match for United. Paul Scholes was sent off after getting two yellow cards, the second was an unfortunate one.

The only blemish on a brilliant evening for United was the red card for Scholes.

"It was a terrible sending off," complained by Sir Alex.

"I think the referee (Andre Marriner) got it wrong. Scholes clearly lifted his leg above the player. I think the Tottenham player's done him, I think he (Tom Huddlestone) should have been punished.

"I've looked at it twice on the video and I can't see a sending-off in that. I think he was sent off because his name's Paul Scholes."

The visitors were 1 man down with more than half an hour to go. Sir Alex Ferguson sacrificed Dimitar Berbatov so Michael Carrick can fill the gap in the midfield. With only 10 players, United still kept possession and attacked the home side. The lone striker Wayne Rooney finally scored the match-clincher in the 78th minute.

Loved how United didn't give up even though they were 2 goals up and 1 man down. Rooney chased the ball everywhere, as always. The midfield kept possession and string passes to create openings. Darren Fletcher once again showed an immense display. Guess he could be the first choice in midfield this season!

Bring on Besiktas!!
