Welcome, RVP!

I'm a little bit late on this - alright, very late - but I just wanted to make a post to welcome him. Robin van Persie arrived a few days before the new season started from Arsenal to Manchester United. I have to say, the reaction of Arsenal fans (especially this guy) is the most entertaining thing about the deal. The getting van Persie part isn't too bad either.

[It's weird seeing him in a United shirt]

Unfortunately, the start of the season wasn't quite as exciting. United put in a disappointing display to lose away at Everton. United held plenty of possession, but lacked imagination and creativity to push the ball through the final third of the pitch. Passing the ball well in midfield, United was unable to create many chances throughout the game. Fair play to Everton, too; they defended very well. United's makeshift defense consisted of Antonio Valencia at right back and Michael Carrick at center back, with injuries of Rio Ferdinand, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, and Jonny Evans. They were no match against Everton's towering forward Marouane Fellaini who scored the winner with a nice header.

In any case, a Rooney - van Persie partnership should be interesting to watch; I'm looking forward to the many many goals the pair will provide.
