Rooney was named Man of the Match, and deservedly so! I'm loving his form at the moment. He scored 8 goals in 6 matches for both club and country. His contribution to the team isn't only from the goals he scored, but he created many more.Young Brazilian full back Rafael made his first Premier League start and he was impressive. To think that he's only 18! Tevez and Anderson were completely left out of the squad because they had a longer flight from the international break.
West Brom did their best to keep a point up for grabs. They were discipline and tight, and their goalkeeper made a lot of great blocks. United had the possession and created many chances, but unable to make it count for the whole first half.
Rooney had a goal disallowed halfway into the first half, with the referee giving a foul against Rooney for pushing. From replays it was clear that Rooney didn't do anything wrong. There was contact, but the slightest of one. He finally put his name on the scoreboard - and break the deadlock - about 10 minutes into the second half. Berbatov played Rooney through the left, who cut Donk and put the ball to the net inside the near post.
About 20 minutes later, Rooney turned provider and Ronaldo converted his through ball in. Moments later, it was Dimi's turn to grab himself a goal. A cross from Nani was deflected and Dimi calmly stuck his boot and get United 3 goals up. Nani closed the night with a close-range shot from (again) Rooney's low cross.
